We hired Topcare when a burst water line caused major damage to our kitchen. After a good start, they started to stall, lie, disappear for days or weeks, reappear to extract another deposit, and then disappear again. Workers who were completely untrained came and went. A crew would arrive at 2 PM and leave by 4 PM, having spent some of those hours either on breaks or “going for materials” which they all had to do together. A completely untrained worker did unsafe wiring of a wall switch, admitting he had no idea what he was doing. He was laughing about that. I am not even close to listing everything they screwed up. One of their workers initially demonstrated competence as a mudder and painter, but then did an extremely rushed and sloppy job refinishing our kitchen cabinets, leaving sags and runs, improperly applied stain, polyurethane drips on the floor, and stain smeared all over a newly painted window frame. He also lost a bolt to the swivel handle on an ******** window that as a result doesn’t open and close properly. TopCare left my home a mess, not even sweeping up the day they announced they were “finished” with our kitchen. Cabinets were full of plaster dust, used sandpaper, etc. They left garbage and debris in the house, garage, and driveway, gaps in the mortar an d grout, etc. After receiving a total of 75 percent of the quote for a second job ( a French drain around the foundation) they had nothing but excuses as to why that job wasn't done– blaming us for “making it really difficult” for them. So, we fired them. We had another contractor do the drainage work. Upon attempting to get a partial refund for the $6,000 we gave them as deposit on the drainage job, Nubar accused us of breach of contract, and rattled sabres about our needing to pay his lawyers cost if the matter ended up in court-- he said we need to pay him the other $2k, because we can't back out of that contract.

I hired Top Care companies on May 20th 2022 to do the roof of our house. At the time we made a deposit of $8,800 followed by another of $3,700 to meet their requested $12,400 deposit. Nubar, the owner of Top Care said he as going to start the project on the 6th of June according to our contract, but didn't. They finally started one of the lower roofs on July 16th, day We had to pay another $3000 at this point we already has payed $15,400. They attached the EPDM membrane wrong in the middle section of the house and had to tear it apart and re-do it on July 26th. They did not removed all the rooted areas of the roof, and haven't put back flashing, fascia, etc, the membrane is just the only thing they installed. On the week of the 18th of July they came back and started the garage roof. Put the ISO boards down and put a broken tarp over the top of the roof. On July 25th it rained, the garage started to leak, damaging the insulation and drywall of the ceiling of the garage. On July 26th they came back, just to take the ISO boards and a new tarp up in the garage roof. Since this day they only have come back to put some fascia over the rooted area. Communication is impossible, all their phones are not working, disconnected or we have been blocked.

Contract with Top Care: an addition, siding, 9 replacement porch windows, storm door, gutters & replacement of back wall in a mudroom to be completed 10/21/21. 2/3 cost paid at start: $28,000, with discount. As of 7/13/22: no addition, storm door not installed, dented wrapping of on eaves, fascia falling off; unsealed wrapping of posts; dirty soffit installed; $200 damage to furnace due to vent pipes being cut; holes were dug for the addition & left exposed into winter. 1st crew walked off the job after improper installation. Trash & scraps in the yard, nails in driveway, our trash cans were used & taken. Nubar said he’d replace them but has not. Since 10/21 he said at least 20 times that he’d finish “by the end of the week.” According to another professional, the addition cannot happen due to an existing foundation from a previous building. Nubar suggested we wait due to a rise in lumber costs. It involved new doors to replace 2 windows, 2 doors, 6-8 insulated windows, a 2nd floor door to replace a window, & removal of an old sink upstairs, but Nubar claims we owe him money when siding is complete. In calculating contract figures & prorating the discount, we have already paid for what was done. He feels the discount is no longer applicable because we didn’t want to rewrite the contract for our “protection…as other contractors might walk away from the job.” On 4/11/2022, we told him that he absolutely needed to be done before 4/22/22. On 5/19/2022, we told him we were contacting BBB. He was insulted by us contacting BBB, & said he wouldn't have returned if he saw it before. Also said we’d have a lawsuit if we posted a negative review on social media. It is mid-July: No storm door on porch, fascia continues to fall off eaves, yard is a mess of dirt & scraps, workers took the last coil without his knowledge. Terrible communication. Nubar has spoken of contractor horror stories & doesn't realize he's the horror story. He does not seem capable of taking responsibility.
