Horrible post-closing experience. A great milestone turned out to be a nightmare. We were told by our loan officer (lets call them V) our loan would be sold sometime in the future after closing. Didnt realize this sometime in the future meant a few days after moving in. The real trouble began when, after closing, the post closing department informed us that we would need to remove asbestos from the property (something that we knew was present during our initial inspection and knew that if it wasnt bothered or disturbed, wouldnt be an issue). If it had to be removed somewhere down the line, fine, but not within a week of us moving in. Our inspection was done weeks prior, which detailed the asbestos. As a mortgage and loan professional (of over 30 years by their statement), it was extremely deceptive that they had no inclination that an asbestos removal would be possibly necessary before the loan was sold. We were not expecting to spend more money. In addition, our loan officer ignored our questions on the timeline of getting this done. When we asked to speak to the post-closing ***** denied. When we asked when this needs to be done, ASAP. When we asked what would the repercussions be of NOT getting this done immediately, silence. So seeing that we felt we were up against a hard deadline, we hired a general contractor (another $3500+ out of pocket) which led to our boiler malfunctioning (another future costly expense). The post-closing **** would not take written confirmation that we are fine with the asbestos being present. The company, as a whole, only cared about selling the loan off to another company. And now we, as new homeowners, are out thousands of dollars out of pocket because of their greed and thinly veiled threats. This company was referred to us by a friend who had a better experience, but I regret doing business with anyone from this company and wish I wouldve gone with anyone else. Potential home-buyers, BEWARE and please look elsewhere!!
