4/14/2023 my wife and I wrote a check for $17,550 to have some concrete work done by Weck's Excavation LLC. That same day I have a text from the owner **** Weck "...we will be pouring concrete mid this coming week." This did not happen. I was told over the phone that it would happen the following week. That did not happen. April 28th **** W*** and I spoke on the phone and decided that, weather permitting, the rest of the job would take him 2.5 weeks to complete. I told him that I would give him 3 and allot extra days as needed if it rained. He sent me an email that acknowledged we had an agreement on this timeframe but was not specific. I asked for another email to acknowledge the specific agreed up timeframe (3 weeks later would be 5/19/23). The job was no completed in that timeframe. May 22nd **** W*** sent me a signed form explaining the rest of the work that needed to be completed and timeframe for all of it. This for states that, weather permitting, the concrete work is to be completed the week of May 30th. This did not happen and the weather was perfect. June 2nd I have an email stating "The concrete will be there Tuesday (6/6/23). That did not happen, just 2 piles of rock dropped off. 6/7/23 two men came out to push those rocks around in preparation for the concrete pad going out back. They showed me an "order" on their phone, assuring me that concrete was definitely being poured the following day, 6/8. This did not happen. I received a call from "Drew" who assured me that concrete would be poured the following week. That didnt happen. Someone came out to "frame" the back pad. They didnt bring enough wood to complete the rectangle, it wasnt square, and it was not equidistant from the house on both ends. Then it rained for weeks. Now we finally have had some good weather and I just got confirmation that they will not be out this week to complete the work before rain starts in again. I would like all remaining work completed as well as compensation.

    Business response

    07/18/2023

We have told this family multiple times in multiple ways that we do apologize for the delays. There is a concrete shortage. Which is making it hard for us to get concrete. We have explained this via phone calls and emails.

Also we cannot lay tie in the rain, if there is lightening in the area we cannot have a crew on the job due to insurance and safety regulations.

This job has taken a lot longer than we wanted. However we stand by our work and the outcome. If we work in the rain or in wet weather the project will not be delivered to the expectation of the customer. We do not want to halfway do a job, and we do not want to give less than 100%, it isn’t right or fair to the customer.

    Customer response

    08/25/2023

I reached out to Weck's Excating LLC after there response to my original complaint. I addressed their response, told them that the lack of communication is my biggest problem, and listed some questions about moving forward. It has now been 27 days since I sent that email and I have gotten zero response. no phone call text or email. I would like the BBB to help request my money back. $17,550. I would also like it if there was some way to update the complaint on your website to state that I responded to their response, that they did re-respond in any way for 27 days, and that I am now requesting a refund, as it has been over 4 months since I gave them $17550.

Moving forward: (I like to number things to keep them organized and to make sure that they all get addressed)

    1. You told me 10 days ago that Zack is "formulating a plan." Where are we at with this? I see zero rain in the upcoming forecast. What is the situation with the concrete? understanding that there is a shortage, what is Zack doing to solidify a date with a ready-mix company so that we can finish the project.
    2. Which ready-mix companies do you use/does Drew use? If you do not have the answer to this, can you please find out and let me know?
    3. How many "yards" of concrete are needed to complete my job?
    4. To give us the best odds of the project being completed when the ready-mix company can accommodate, I believe we should be as prepared as possible. I would like to see the back patio framing truly completed and the back steps pulled out as soon as possible. The framing needs to be squared up and moved slightly so that it is equidistant from the house on both ends. When can you come out to get this portion of the job completed?
