    Took my console in after they told me on the phone they would take and offer me more then ******** however after walking with it almost an hour because I live almost next door to the ****** company in the **** end of ****** they tell me "No" because according to them it has an "Oder" I asked several different people on my way home if they could smell anything and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SAID NO! Until they make it right I will no longer step foot in there or send any one of my followers there!

    We buy, sell, and trade products and have done so for the last 48 years. If a customer brings in an item, we will make an appraisal of that item based on both its popularity and condition.  We do NOT guarantee that we will buy everything someone brings in, but we will look at it. The item Mr. ******* brought in was not an item we could make an offer on based on it's condition. Our manager politely told Mr. ******* that it was not something we would make an offer on due to condition. Mr. ******* became upset asking what condition and our manager again politely told him the item smelled.  ( Our manager stated the game system smelled like cat urine/feces).      Mr. ******* responded with profanity and hostility. 

    We do not buy everything presented to us for appraisal when it's an item we cannot resell.  Unfortunately, this is one of those cases.

    I went into the store to find a simple Game Boy Advance/ Game Boy Color link cable. I said I needed one that worked on those devices. I was told yeah we have those and was taken to the case where they got the cable out. I again asked to clarify that the cable worked for the above mentioned devices and was told "it should" so I took the employee for their word. Unfortunately, I got home only to find out the cable does not work for the Game Boy Color only the Game Boy Advance. I thought no big deal I can certainly go back and swap this for the right cable. This was not the case, as it would be at any other reputable store. After explaining the issue, the first thing the employee said was "We are probably gonna have to hit you with a restock fee" to which I said "Really, on a simple cable like that?" and he said "Yes, we can't put that back on the shelf like that" when all that needed to be done was for the clear circular sticker at the bottom of the box to be replaced. Everything else in the box and the outside was exactly as it was when I bought it. The employee did not go get the other cable, tell me the restocking fee price or in any way try to provide a "solution" to my simple problem. This is the definition of horrible customer service and is a bad business practice. If my cable was swapped out and I pay the difference I would have left a completely happy customer instead, I don't believe I will ever go back to any of "The Exchange" locations and spend my money again.

    The situation that occurred to the customer at our Exchange store on 7/24/23 should never have happened. We did call the customer immediately to remedy this situation. The employee that served the customer did not act properly. The immediate response should have been ”Of course, let’s take care of that for you.” We did explain that the employee did not serve the customer as they should have been served. The customer did return to another store to get the correct cable and we do believe that they left happy with their refund and replacement. The Exchange Stores have been doing good business for almost 50 years and we try to service our customers to the best of our ability. With that being said, we continually teach, train and review to give all our employees and customers a positive experience in our stores. Thank you to the valued customer for allowing us to serve him properly.
