Noted roof leak by chimney in 2019. Hired ****** ***** (TB), a builder, because trim issues on high roof may also need to be replaced and dormers/cupola removed. TB said he could fix, and we pay extra. Contract signed 6 Mar 19 for roof/gutters/caulk/paint. Paid roof bill 22 Aug 19. Rest paid 10 Sep 19 with mutual understanding TB would resolve a few outstanding issues (some already resolved). Problems: Original chimney roof leak grew after new roof put on. TB sent guy who showed photo of rusty nails at leak point; applied bunch of caulk. Told TB not what we expected as repair on new roof; TB came and fixed. While here, showed him increased interior ceiling leak damage. TB said he would fix; we said we’d be willing to pay 1/4 as small area there before he started. TB’s painter did not put two coats of paint on all surfaces. Forced to watch him redo one area to ensure done. On another TB visit, showed him places where caulk was missing or inadequately applied, trim areas missing paint/peeling, and trim needed replaced (painter said he told TB). Still have uncaulked gaps around some windows, uncaulked gaps in some trim, and some door/window steel beams have rust spots coming through the paint. TB maintained during other repairs that he’d fix problems. Many texts/calls with TB over last couple years re outstanding issues, and TB always said he would resolve. We understood he had other jobs and long list of health and family issues so remained patient. In lengthy text strings, TB always said he would resolve. Last comm re fixing remaining issues was July 23; TB said going to find someone to come out as he had surgery. Texted TB Aug 23 and called Sep 23—no response. Request BBB’s help to resolve lingering issues this year so project can be closed for all concerned.

I personally dropped a check off in the ******* mailbox on 2-12-24 for the discussed amount to cover the repair.
I have not heard back from them since .
I am trying to track down that check to see when it was cashed.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you, BBB, for following up.  Contractor alleges he dropped a check off in our mailbox.  No check from contractor has ever been received and/or cashed by us.  We initiated this complaint in 9/2023 regarding work contracted for in 3/2019.  We received a text from him in 12/2023 acknowledging he agreed to pay the quoted price for the wall repair (caused by faulty workmanship by contractor) and that he would drop off a check.  The last text we received from ****** was on 12/24/2023 stating he would get the check to us the “first of the week.”  Our last text to him was on 1/11/2024 checking on the status of the check.  No response was ever received.  Approximately 10 months later, we received this notice from BBB that he dropped off a check to us earlier in the year.  There was no text or call to advise the check had been dropped off.  The matter of contractor’s agreed-upon payment to us remains unresolved.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *** ***** ******

BBB spoke with the owner by phone. He was able to find where he had wrote the check but it hadn't be cashed. He asked BBB for the consumers address and will be mailing out a check by certified mail either today, November 13, or tomorrow, November 14.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

We believe the company that provided the original quote on 12/7/2023 will no longer perform the repair for the same cost.  We believe the original contractor (****** *****) would agree with this assessment due to prices continually rising in the building industry.  We would like the original contractor (****** *****) to make good on the lifetime workmanship warranty as stated on the contract with us and get this repair scheduled in the near future consistent with the warranty.

    Thank you,

    ***** *** ***** ******

I purchased my home in 2018, ****** redid the roof in 2011 which paperwork from the previous owner states it is under a 15 year warranty. A leak popped up in March of 2023, a leak under both attic windows in the office and living room, additionally, I asked ****** to replace the sunroom roof which he did not replace but I assumed he was trustworthy. ****** wrote up our proposal agreement which included a 30% deposit of $483.75. Our proposal was drafted on March 23, 2023, which is signed by myself and him, at this time I wrote ****** a check for the amount of $483.75. ****** explained to me I’d be a couple weeks out but the written proposal guarantees his commitment to the job. A month later I called ****** to ask him when he was coming as I was about to leave for vacation, around April 10th, he stated he would definitely have it done before I left in the 21st. ****** has ignored my phone calls and cashed his check.

I signed a Contract with the customer to replace her back porch roof.
I did tell her I could get the job done quickly.
Unfortunately, I took a fall off a ladder from 8ft and landed on my back.
I Called the customer as soon as I felt good enough to go back to work.
When I got to the job the customer decided she did not want us to do the work, stating she had got someone else to to it because it had been so long. At this time I refunded the down payment and went ahead and did a few repairs, free of charge.
2 days after that, I received the complaint. I’m guessing this complaint was done just before I  went out there.
I have not heard anything back from the customer since the time I went out there.

T and T (****** *****) and I entered a contract to remodel a bathroom in a rental house I own. In June of 2022 it came to my attention that the project was not completed. Between then and now (4/23) I have contacted ****** several times about finishing the bathroom. Still not done. I gave him the phone numbers of the people renting the house. Instead of contacting them he tried just showing up. I asked the renters about this. One said when she got to the door ****** was already backing out of the driveway. ****** left a card. The other renter said he tried to call ****** but ****** did not answer or return his call. ****** has suggested that I meet him at the house. I have tried to contact him several times but he has stopped communicating with me. This project is paid in full.

    The bathroom is completed.
According to the customer there is 1 light switch that needs repaired and or something to be corrected.
As everyone knows, finding help is almost impossible, so my time is very limited. I attempted to get into the house 3 different times. When I first heard about the issue, I was given the phone number of the renter, so when I was in the area which I am often, I tried calling the renter and the renter did not answer. I went to the house 3 different times like I stated.  I talked to the renters neighbor 2 of the 3 times, asking when they were usually home.
After not being able to gain access, I asked the customer to meet me at the job.  He refused and told me I had there number and to take care of it myself.
He then threatened to get a lawyer after me.  At that point I was finished dealing with this customer.   He then reached back out to me a week or so later saying he would meet me now. While this was going on I had fallen off a ladder and landed directly on my back so I was laid up for several weeks. So for future customers, be willing to work with your contractor, especially when he is making an effort to correct something for you. This customer lives directly around the corner from this rental so when I requested that he meet me there, to let me in, would have taken 1 minute of his time. Also, not a good thing to threaten people then expect them to help you out.
    To summarize :

    Job is done.
Several attempts made to correct light switch

Customer unwillingness to work with me

    Threats were made

I am done dealing with it.
