I was referred to IBI by **** ****** to get a permit & inspection. I called IBI on 3/1 and spoke with Victoria, who walked me through the application process. I received an email copy that same day (att.). Not hearing from IBI for almost 2 weeks, I called on 3/12 and was told I had to pay first, which I did immediately (receipt att). I would have paid sooner had I known earlier. Almost 2 more weeks passed without hearing from IBI, so I called again on 3/22 and spoke to Brittany. She told me I could schedule my inspection, so we set up for of 3/26. She also told me I could call from 7:30-8:30am that morning to get a more specific time frame from the inspector once the route was planned. I cleared my schedule for the day. I called this morning (3/26) in that window & was told the inspector had already left, so was forwarded to him. He said that IBI does NOT serve the area I live in! Despite multiple phone calls, application, & payment since 3/1, this was the first time I learned this. He connected me to another employee, AJ, who gave me to a supervisor, Jenny, who wasn't available, but would call me back. I waited an hour but received no call, so I called back. I went from AJ to Jenny & finally to Jocelyn, the Office Manager. She blamed Victoria, who she said is new. I told her that was unacceptable. Since 3/1 I've spoken to several different people at IBI. Many eyes & hands must have accepted then approved my application, received my payment, & put me on the schedule. Did NO ONE know they did not serve my area through this entire process? Why did I find out only this morning? If I had not called to check the inspector's ETA, I would have waited an entire day for someone who wasn't coming. Jocelyn tried to be apologetic, & they are going to refund the money I sent them. But besides my anger at this irresponsible and unprofessional behavior, I am also set back one month in this process and must start over. Frustrating! I am wondering if legal action is an option.

We recently had a fire at our home (10/30/2023). It was an electrical fire and we were told that we should have the buildings electrical system inspected to avoid further instances of possible fires. They (fire department) gave us the number to the Inspection Bureau Inc. We call the following day to set up an appointment to have the electrical system looked at. We were told we had to pay their inspection fee, and once we did, they would have someone out the following day. We filled out the application (which they sent us a copy of) and paid the fee (which we got a receipt for) and waited for their communication. This was on 10/31/2023. We had not heard anything from them, so on Saturday 11/4/2023, I sent a request for a refund. As of today, 11/9/2023, I still have not heard back from them.

    Hello,

We do have an electrical permit for this person and we have attempted to contact him several times with no return phone calls from him.  We would be more than happy to set his inspection up but he would either need to go to our website or he can call me on my direct line *************  We cannot just show up to do an inspection someone needs to call us or go online in order for us to come out.  I do not see that we ever received a request from him to cancel the permit.

    Thank you,

The information I am providing is the transaction number and amount of the fee I paid. I have also sent the address and other contact information of the company involved. There was no contract given, there is no receipt (physical), this is all the information I have available. As I've stated before, their office manager did get in touch with me and promised a refund when her boss got back in town. Since he had to sign the check. That was a month ago now. I still have not received a refund. All I want is my money back. All I seem to get from them are lies and excuses.

We recently had electrical work done on our home, IBI was the inspection company that we were told to call after the work was done in our house. An inspector named Rob came out to our home, he did his initial work and had given our home the inspection approval however in the time that he was doing his work, he dropped our breaker box cause our AC to malfunction and cut off half of the power to our house. He had left to go to his car and we were fortunately able to catch him to come assess the problem as everything had been functioning perfectly prior to his arrival, before dropping our breaker box. He returned to our home and claimed that the power failure was not his fault but the fault of the company who installed the new wiring and panel. He manipulated some of the wiring and told us that we now failed the inspection and needed the company to come back out and fix it because they had done the wiring wrong. Despite his manipulation of the wiring, we still had no power to half of our home and the AC continued to malfunction. We were without power for approximately 24 hours due to us having to shut everything down for concern for safety issues. The original company that did the work was able to come out the next day and made quick work of repairing his damages however he we learned he had fabricated a story to his own company when a new inspector came out to repeat the inspection. We have still not received further communication from IBI and have not been able to get in contact with anyone from the office to file a formal complaint. I am extremely disappointed with IBIs lack of communication and overall unprofessionalism from one of their employees.
