On October 6, 2022, I dropped off an alpaca dress coat to Springdale Cleaners on ********* Road in Cincinnati. I was told it would be ready in 2 or 3 days. The dress coat was only worn twice and had been purchased at a specialty store in ***** ******* 9/20. It retailed for $319.99. I stopped back to pick up the item and Springdale Cleaners told me the dress coat was lost, they couldn't find it and there was a possibility the dress coat had been inadvertently given to the wrong customer. Weeks went by, I stopped in regularly to check if the dress coat had been recovered. Finally, after a month I inquired what could be done about the lost item. I was given a claim form and was told to fill it out. I returned the claim form and asked what the next steps would be. I was told the owner was away on vacation and nothing would be done for at least 2 weeks. In addition, I was told they would need to depreciate the value of the dress coat, although the owners daughter could not tell me what the percentage of depreciation would be. I refuse to have the item depreciated, since it was brought to them in like-new condition and just needed to be refreshed. As I mentioned, the dress coat had been worn no more than 2 times. I am looking for a full refund of the original cost of the item that was irresponsibly lost by Springdale Cleaners. I am escalating this to BBB and my local news channel. This is no way to run a business. Please let me know if there's anything BBB can assist with. Thank you, ******** ********

Hello, My name is Robert I am the General Manager of Springdale Cleaners. I have reached out to the manager of this location for further information, with a situation like this we do have 30 days for the item to be returned to the store, from there is when we take action for compensation. Generally you fill out a claim form in which the manager provided you, to be able to be reimbursed in full, the garment needs to be less than a year old and the original proof of purchase is needed. With the item being over 2 years old it would come in with an actual cash value of $106.33 that is a depreciation of 33.33% a year. The manager also informed me that you dropped off a down comforter after this incident and that was done for free which is a $30 service typically. So with all being said we are willing to settle on $76.33 in actual cash value for the garment.
