I contacted a contractor, EST, Inc./******** ******** aka Kurtis A***, about renovating my bathroom. I paid $6,705.98 for labor and materials via checks (no.s ****, ***** and ****) between 2/27/2023 - 3/17/2023. I contacted Kurtis A*** and Esteban C******** (EST's employee/worker) on 3/18/2023, and explained that the work was unsatisfactory and there was damage to my home and new cabinetry. Kurtis A*** said he would discuss it with his employee; the employee said he would return to make repairs. The repairs were not completed satisfactorily and I now understand the work required to repair the bathroom is far more extensive than originally thought. EST, Inc./Kurtis A***/Esteban C******** has failed to respond appropriately to this problem, which has prompted me to write directly to you. The issues include, but may not be limited to: *Tile improperly installed on the bathroom floor, shower floor, and shower walls *Floor of shower not graded correctly *Waterproofing materials not included in required areas of shower *Incorrect thickness of cement/backer board for walls *Improper grout work *Improper installation of shower head *Improper installation of exhaust fan *Damage to new vanity marble top, vanity cabinetry, and vanity base/feet *Damage to new shower head and new shower doors (new parts not installed) *Damage to new paint job/incomplete *Damage to sofa (cleaning of soiled area caused by worker left stain/damage) *Potential latent damages There are so many issues, it is impossible to photograph them all.

    Dear ****

On or around February 24, 2023 ****, texted me to give her an estimate on her bathroom remodel.   My proposal /estimate via text message was around $7000-7500 - labor only. She replied back and could not afford my services. This now makes three instances the last three years which she wanted estimates from me and not hired my company. All in all **** did not sign or agree to a working agreement or contract with my company.

As a courtesy I text her back and offered some “friendly” help , because she was referred to me by my neighbor. I texted ****, and told her I found someone that would do the work for her that she can hire directly. All I’m aware of is that the work was completed and **** paid the contractor directly for his labor. This contractor is not my employee nor does he work for my company. He is an independent contractor that is ONLY covered by my insurance (general liability) if my company sub contracts him, and the client then hires my company directly and has a signed working / operating agreement and contract; which in this case **** does not.

**** should have done a final walk through with this contractor before paying him.

**** contacted my insurance company behind my back somehow to try to sneakingly file a claim which was not warranted or justified and had no merit. I spoke with the agent assigned and the matter / claim was rejected.
Her attempt to file a report with the BBB against my company is also of no merit and should be rejected and dismissed.

It is unfortunate what has happened but all in all I am not responsible for what happened and should not be held accountable.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

    Kurtis

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below:

I hired Environmental Solutions and Technology, LLC/EST, LLC to remodel my bathroom.  EST, LLC was the sole company/person with whom I discussed project.  Agreement was in writing via text with EST, LLC/Owner AKA Kurtis A***.  I told EST, LLC that I would not commence work without their insurance.  EST confirmed insurance covered his worker, too, and provided insurance information to me.  EST, LLC cashed check addressed to EST, LLC for agreed upon work.  EST, LLC was paid in full.  EST, LLC damaged my property and my bathroom is unusable due to their negligence.

They are responsible for the damages to my home.  I expect full reimbursement.

Thank you for making this public, as others need to know that this company operates as a scam, defrauds consumers, and damages personal property without concern or making restitution.  The owner of EST will state whatever he can to support his position, although the facts are what they are.  The truth is he has defrauded a consumer and should make restitution for his damages.  He is liable.

    Regards,

    **** *******
