We contracted Don Bacon Appliance Repair to fix a ******* ref. They recharged the Freon which they said was a temporary fix. It worked. They said they would send a quote for additional work to fix the problem. Their quote was discribed as REFRIGERATOR SEALED SYSTEM IS LEAKING FREON AND NEEDS TO BE REBUILD WHICH INCLUDED CONDENSER, COMPRESSOR AND EVAPORIZER. $2,073.00, We got a second quote from a competitor who assured us we only needed a single part and completed the the work far $725.00

As noted on our invoice from the day of service, our technician discovered multiple issues with your system. The primary issue was a lack of refrigerant, which explained why the unit wasn't cooling; we added refrigerant to your unit as a complimentary gesture to restore cooling temporarily. Furthermore, your unit is over 20 years old, meaning its compressor is not up to date, and the heat exchanger—which is crucial for transporting refrigerant between the compressor and evaporator—was beginning to fail. This degradation will inevitably reduce the cooling efficiency for which ******* units are renowned.
