We needed completion before 12.31.2023 since *** ******* ***** ***** ***** ***** ****** ** ***** ****** during annual cleaning convinced us we had cracked a liner from a supposed chimney fire; filing a claim for us with ******* (used them for 40 years). They sent inspector - he denied the claim. ******* doubled our coverage immediately for filing a claim. We did not use ** to "repair" the chimney since they had already revealed themselves as scammish fraudsters. No other insurance firm would touch us until we "repaired" the chimney. The claim had gone up online to the CLUE report which notes claims by one word all caps in bold - in this case - FIRE. ******** was hired to install a stainless steel liner for $3,000 in December. This satisfied **** Insurance to issue us a policy at the same cost as previous *******. Year end. We still needed the exterior of the chimneys repaired. We were willing to give the benefit of the doubt and have him finish this job. Countless phone calls, texts, went unanswered. Suddenly in early February he showed up unannounced in our back yard. Did not climb to the roof to prepare his estimate, dressed nice, driving new expensive truck with no markings. He refused to alter his $4900 quote (we had given a 10% deposit) but we needed the work done. His quote included liner and 9 courses of brick which suddenly became 3. He verbally threatened my wife. She cancelled proposal. He gleefully shouted "just lost your deposit". DiFrancesco & Sons did a fantastic job repairing my chimney and replacing a wooden basement window with glass block. Anthony had initially scheduled the work for November, however it slipped to December. Being someone who once owned a home trade service company, this delay was very understandable given that masonry work is based on weather, prior project issues and completion, and worker availability. However, Anthony kept me informed of the schedule slips all along the way. I have seen some bad comments and reviews on here that had me concerned at first, but now I realize that most of the comments were due to people not understanding the trades scheduling and the unpredictable nature of delays that come with a tradesman and dedicated workers (not subcontractors) that do one job at a time, so that it is done well. I would highly recommend DiFrancesco & Son’s, but would recommend patience and understanding with respect to your job starting, as I would with any contracted job. Anthony quoted to start a job on 9/2022, pushed it to sometime after Memorial Day. Began job on 6/28/2023- it's 8/10/2023 and it's still not completed. He made up every excuse as to why the job it taking so long and he's "losing money". He banged up the house and broke the window sills and siding. He did replace the (didn't color matched the siding). Only thing he did correctly. He yelled at my 82yr old dad multiple times when he questioned why this isn't done. Stated he didn't want to "over work his employees". Employees when they showed up only worked a 2-4 hrs a day. Quit the job and didn't finish the driveway and replacement of the limestone landing for the steps he redid to the entrance of the house.

Similar to others, I gave Anthony a $1,600 deposit for work in my garage roof two months ago and he’s disappeared.

In early August 2021, my husband and I followed up on a flier from maxvaluesmag.com advertising for a variety of masonry work. Within a few days we received a call from Anthony DiFrancesco of DiFrancesco and Sons Inc. and asked him to put together an estimate for removal of old concrete steps and installation of new brick and sandstone steps. My husband signed a contract for him to perform the work. In addition, he wrote Mr. DiFrancesco a check for a $600 deposit. Anthony said that he was headed out of town for the weekend with his family and that he could not start the job for at least the next two months as he was busy. On October 19, I called the business number listed on the contract in order to leave a message for him to call as we were past the two months and curious as to why he had not called to let us know when he might start the job. The number came back as not in service. With further searching we discovered that the business has at least five addresses. On Oct. 21, my husband called another number and left a message asking Anthony to get back to us. He returned the call that day, and my husband explained to him that we were getting late in the season and with the weather being more unpredictable in late October and into November he asked Anthony to refund our deposit. Then we could revisit his taking on the job in March or April of 2022. His response was that he would send out a refund of our $600 within a week. My husband called once again on Dec. 9, 2021 asking for the refund, but we never received it. Never once did Anthony indicate when he might start the job or indicate that he had pulled the proper permits from the City Building Department. His only response was that he had been and was busy. In reading other reviews, it is clear that Anthony has a history of questionable business practices, most commonly leaving people hanging once he receives a down payment. On Feb. 7, 2022, Lake County Small Claims Court granted judgment in our favor.
