- Advertising Review:In November 2024, BBB contacted Profitable Automation regarding claims in its advertising.
Its website includes logos for Entrepreneur, Forbes, Today, yahoo! finance, TED, Thrive Global, and Disrupt. According to the BBB Code of Advertising, the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. BBB asked the business if they have permission from these entities to use their trademarks in its advertising but did not receive a reply.
Its advertising includes references to earnings claims, including:
"The honest truth is that your store will be worth a lot more than what you paid for it once it's running and profitable, so practically no one takes me up on the guarantee."
"Most stores do well over $100k in the first 10 months."
"They do everything for you, from product listing, to shipping, to marketing. They've done over half a billion of e-commerce sales for their clients. When the store's ready, they sell it for you for seven figures."
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. The business did not respond to BBB's request that it substantiate these claims.
A post on its Facebook page includes a testimonial that states, "12 months ago I bought an Amazon Built-For-You store just to see how it would go. In the last 30 days, I did $71,572 in sales...My store has done over $204,000 in sales in the last six months and it's growing every month. Full disclosure: My actual profits are now averaging $17,00 per month."
In general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it contains representations or statements which would be misleading if made directly by the advertiser or if a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be. The business did not provide substantiation for these earning claims.
Profitable Automation appears to be selling a business opportunity. It also offers a "Free" credit repair service for potential clients who do not qualify due to a credit score below 700. The business did not provide BBB with requested additional information or clarification of these services. - Pending Government Action:Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:1:2024cv23976 Federal Trade Commission v.
