In March and April of 2023, BBB emailed and called Eli's Paving regarding its advertised claim of ‘50% off any custom framing.’ The ad failed to state the basis for the 50% off, such as 50% off regular price as required by BBB’s Code of Advertising. The business did not respond to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.”20 years of experience" which appears on their website.
As the owner of Eli's Paving was 26 years old at the time of the claim, BBB suggested adding "Est. 2021" to the website, to help consumers better understand the difference between when the business was established verses the years of experience any staff may bring to a job.
BBB Code of Advertising reads: "All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided."
The business called our office to discuss the matter, but failed to modify or discontinue the claim.
