Evolved Plumbing Columbus Ohio- July 24 2023 installed new hot water tank, new basement toilet & new basement utility sink. Young inexperienced & unlicensed plumber (******) installed correct 40 gal tank with incorrect 36,000 BTU. Original tank was 40,000 BTU. I called Evolved, inexperienced plumber returned, ran tap 3 seconds and left. Evolved Plumbing then ghosted my calls, no further return calls. My electric bills are higher than before replacement, water tank must now be set on higher temp. Not enough hot water in kitchen sink for dishes or take a hot shower in bathroom. I have a 24 year old **** Therm boiler furnace which still works. Young plumber had no experience with this system, often called for advice to company. I did not know what a BTU was, and had to educate myself after the replacement, trying to solve the problem. Otherwise I would have made sure to notice the error during the install. I looked up photos of original hot water tank from condo purchase inspection Dec 16, 2019. The young plumber did not have enough experience to solve mistakes & work with uncommon plumbing set up. I was nervous as the young plumber frequently called for advice, and said things like Oops I forgot the draft hood! He called for help but received none when he could not figure out how to drain the tank to get it up the basement stairs. To protect my carpet I held a plastic tarp under the heavy partially filled broken tank as the young man dragged it up the stairs, stopping in pain midway to exclaim What have I done! My bills are higher, available hot water is lower. I demand the company replace the tank to correct heating capacity or better yet, reimburse the cost to me so I can hire someone else I can trust. No complaints regarding utility sink & new toilet, although plumber picked up sink without legs & made several trips to hardware store for supplies.Customer response

This has been resolved, ***** from Evolved Plumbing phoned me within hours of my negative ****** ******.
I accepted their offer of installing 2 in line check valves at no charge on Nov 14, 2023. My friend who was on site Nov 14 recorded 65 degree F at the kitchen sink after this plumbing fix.
Compared to my previous measurements of 127 degree F dropping to 104 degree F within 60 seconds post hot water replacement July 24.
Evolved Plumbing then asked me to remove the ****** review. I said I would amend it, gave them 3 stars and credit for showing up & providing the fix. After a few months I will delete the entire ****** review, I don't think it is valuable to keep bad news around forever.
Thank you for your support. I will def look up BBB before purchase next time!

I’ve waited to do a review. I thought maybe I was overreacting. But here I am, six months later, and this situation still makes me feel like I was taken advantage of. I would like a billing adjustment or creditable explanation of charges. Below is why I am requesting this. Project finished 10/19/2021 I had a gas leak and my warranty company uses Evolved Plumbing & Mechanical The entire transaction is suspect on so many levels. The padded labor hours by $392 originally The extra “helper” charge $690 The padded material cost, doubled if not tripled cost by at least $500 Then the padded permit cost of $565 after the “Helper” was removed. (Actual cost $150) The additional cost added for them to come back to fix problems from initial work I requested an email with breakdown of cost because there was still a charge for a “Helper” for 12 hours/$690 @ $57.50/hr showing, as well as showing 75 feet of pipe was replaced or “ALL’ which is incorrect. I measured with the contractor that came in to do the estimate. We were looking at 55 ft if all was done. After work was done a 15 foot section WAS NOT REPLACED, which dropped line replaced to CSST to 40 FEET, NOT 75. I was charged ALMOST DOUBLE. No permit was pulled which delayed everything by days. I specifically asked the Evolved receptionist for a receipt or something showing the breakdown on charges, including the $565 permit fee(details uploaded) The receipt sent to me in no way shows correct charges or the permit charge. In fact, the receipt received shows a bill that totaled $2,213.45. $2,000 was what the warranty company needed to pay which they hadn’t as of that point. In the end my payment was $971.45. I was charged an additional $758. For what? Because Evolved didn’t like me questioning charges? I can buy the materials used for less than $469 and this is being generous on cost. I was charged $1,002.45 for material and $1176 labor. I can understand 20/30% markup. But this? 6 supporting documents uploadedBusiness response

Good afternoon all,
My name is ***** ******* I am an owner here at Evolved Plumbing mechanical and responding to this complaint *** ****** *** *** *************. This customer I have reviewed paperwork from when we were out there through her home warranty company about a gas leak in their house, and replacing gas lines and fittings throughout basement in home with needing to pull permit for city with multiple inspections. All pricing was discussed with customer before any work was to be completed which customer agreed-upon for us to do the work through the home warranty company, they call the customer to get a verbal OK before any work is complete in case any instances like this may occur . Originally when job was completed customer did not want to pay the original out-of-pocket even after agreeing to and work was all completed. They did not pay their out-of-pocket until the inspections was able to be taken care of To get the gas turned back on to their home.I have not received anything from the customer prior to this complaint about the job and pricing I am willing to contact the customer in regards to this to reach an agreement. ****** **** ********** ******* **** **** ************* ** *** *** ****** ***** ******** *** ** ** ******* ** ********** *******

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]
Complaint: 17019477
I am rejecting this response because: I am not sure what the appropriate response should have been. It is not resolved, yet Evolved said they “would like to know how they can resolve the issue.” My answer to that is: A refund. Nobody reached out to me via email or certified mail after the last exchange to go through charges. At this point I opened this complaint on April 13. No response from business until June 3 when they lost accreditation. Next reply to my timely response, which was within my 7 day window to that, was then July 25. My time is valuable and with the overcharge I would also like to be compensated for the time and stress in which this caused me. So a refund of $971.45 will resolve this issue.
