My father had lawn care service for 2023. He has been ill since last year and is currently in hospice care. I have taken care of his bills and his lawn care service. I was surprised to see a bill for $71.69 for fertilizer treatment that I had not called for him. I called the office and similar to other complaints here was told that the service is auto renewed unless terminated and was told this is industry standard. This is NOT industry standard and is an unfair consumer practice. I have had other lawn care services and one must elect service each year. This is only fair for unforeseen circumstances like my father where he was unable to cancel (or if he had passed or moved). For this company to continue to say: “we are a small business and this is industry standard” is disingenuous. The woman was rude, unsympathetic, and did not clear the balance as she said she would. My father continues to get reminders for payment. This is a terrible and unscrupulous practice that needs to stop or they must accept the risk that they are providing an unwanted service that they may need to write-off.Business response

If she can please provide the name of her father and or his address I will make sure that the balance is cleared. We do apologize that she finds the auto renewal unfair business practice, but it is the company policy at Lawn Control Center and it is not unheard of in our industry. We do understand that there can be unforeseen circumstances. We are sorry that she did not have a good experience with us as that is not what we strive for. We hope to clear this to her satisfaction as quickly as possible.Customer response

I had a contract with Lawn Control Center for the 2022 season. At the end of the season, we sent our last payment along with a note to Lawn Control Center stating the payment concluded the contract and season. During the course of the upcoming lawn season, they kept sending reminders about service starting in the spring of 2023, We weren't interested in having them service our lawn again, and never sent a request back for the 2023 season. They came out to our property in April and fertilized without a contract or permission to be on our property. They left a bill for $77 dollars and are continually sending e-mails about payment due including the latest on June 24th. I spoke with the office manager and requested that the owner contact me. She wasn't pleasant after I told her why I was calling and never filled my request. We just want the payment reminders to stop via e-mail and to be left alone. We're not paying for a service we never contracted for. This seems to be an on-going practice with this company and is disturbing.Business response

We are sorry to hear that the customer came to you with this when this could have been easily resolved here in our office. Our service auto renews each season and this is stated on every invoice. It says "For your convenience our service is continuous from season to season; for a change in service please call." This is standard throughout our industry. They say they let us know to cancel at the end of last season. Unfortunately, we have no record of that request. Whether that was an error on our end or not, I am just stating WHY we came out for service at the beginning of the 2023 season. I will clear this bill for him as a goodwill gesture even though being a small business it is costly not to be paid for an application. We do appreciate our customers and are sorry that this had to come to this. Thank you! ******, Office manager, Lawn Control CenterInitial Complaint

My previous lawncare provider sold its portfolio of business to Lawn Care Center. We made our initial payment and were told that someone would be out to service our property, but no one ever showed. Attempts to contact the business have been unsuccessful to this point. If **** ******* ****** is not capable of providing services to the portfolio of business it bought and fulfilling its commitment, I would like a full refund.Business response

It is not true that he is unable to reach us! I spoke to him this afternoon. I was unable to resolve his issue, so I let him know that I would have the manager contact him as soon as possible and that is still pending. We want his service to be completed as soon as possible and are working hard to get that done. If he wants a refund I am happy to issue it he can just let us know, but we are still working on getting him scheduled.Customer response

In 2022 I signed up for lawn treatment services without my understanding that the company expected services to continue year to year unless I called to cancel. I received a lawn treatment on April 10th, 2023. Called the company that day and stated that “I didn’t sign up for treatments again”. The lady said that on the invoice (above the stub) it states the termination expectation by the company. I was unaware. I looked at the invoice I received, and the writing is on top of other writing and is not clearly legible. I have called and sent messages every day asking to discuss further and come to a resolution. There was one attempt on 4/11 from the company to me. They did not leave a message, but I did recognize the number on my caller ID when I saw the missed call. I called back and still haven’t heard anything since.Customer response

I am filing a complaint against LLC for bad business practices and providing documentation of the lies LCC told me when I called and emailed to complain that I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR A SECOND YEAR OF SERVICE and didn’t want to pay for them showing up and charging me. My documentation entails the service contract they sent me for the first year of service dated April 7, 2021. I have underlined all the places in the letter that indicate that the service program was only for ONE year/season. In LCC’s response to my phone call and emails, they state that I was notified numerous times that the service was “continual,” i.e., it would continue year after year until I cancelled it. This is a lie as you will see from the initial contract, an invoice and a summary service report from LCC, none of which indicate that the customer must cancel at the end of the yearly contract or that the service is “continual.” I also rebutted LCC’s claim in April, 2022 that they had sent several written and electronic notices to me that the service would continue if I didn’t cancel it. The worst offense for me was that LCC insisted that I pay for the visit on March 31, 2022 I didn’t order BEFORE they would cancel my contract. If possible, I would like my payment for $56.23 to be refunded since they didn’t return to finish the service that I never ordered. Finally, I read through the comments/complaints that are noted for this business on the BBB website and most portray the very same issues I experienced!!! Yet, the business still has an A+ rating. At the very least LLC should have a lower rating so that future customers will be aware of what they are in for.Business response

This is totally confusing because I have not treated this person’s lawn at all this year, and they have no balance with me. So, I do not understand, maybe she has my company confused with another company?Business response

Agreed to have them service my yard last March. Never saw someone show up but received bill in May. Called to say my lawn looked horrible and I didn't think any service had been done. Mid may I bought a pool, cut down a giant tree and ripped all the concrete out of backyard. Called to cancel service altogether and after 2 transfers got general mailbox where I left vmail saying do not plan on coming out to service my yard because it would be torn up all summer. 1st week of June another bill shows up. This time I call and call until I got a lady on the phone and told her I don't think anybody ever came, I have gotten 2 bills, and last month I canceled. She said she would take care of it. July a bill shows up again and still no flag indicating service and my lawn is still crab grass and weeded from lack of treatment. August same thing. In September I get another bill and told I am going to collections. I called and called until I got the owner to call me back. I asked him to come look at my lawn and he can tell me if it looks treated or that someone had made a mistake and was improperly billing me after I had called and complained and then canceled any service last May. I have pictures galore and I just want this company to leave me alone forever.Business response
