******* was referred to me by a friend of a family member. He did some odd jobs and overcharged on all of them. One job he paid himself a little over $1,000 per hour, the job was nothing like he described to me and I believed the price would be discounted. He did this one in the middle of my shower job and although Im not asking to be reimbursed for this one it shows his character. My biggest problem is the shower he did for me. I had a 2-foot shower I wanted made into a 4-foot shower. We had already removed the 2-foot shower. He had to move the wall(s) on the ends and he moved the plumbing. He said the plumbing part was extremely easy as he used flexible hoses. The shower is not usable. Main tile pieces are cracked and uneven. Decorative tile pieces were removed and filled in with caulk (well he tried anyway) instead of actually cutting them to fit. He did not use a backer board underneath the decorative tile so it sits behind the other tile. The joints of the main tile sit within a couple of inches from each other instead of the halfway point as they should be. There is black caulk on the white shower floor and caulk still remains all over the tile. He did the ceiling and it does not flow into the main ceiling. He pulled pieces of my flooring up and left them. I still have no idea why he did that. He also left tile glue on the carpet of the adjacent room and the one next to that. There were times he wouldnt show when he said he would and hed say he had to go to a Lowes store far away because the local ones didnt have what he needed. He tried to tell me the shower door was $900 but when I later looked it up it was $297.99. And I called the store-no price changes. The job was finished with a lifetime warranty but he answers no calls or texts. We were giving him a chance to make it right ******* not only overcharges and does shoddy work he lies. Id like my money back, but if nothing else I want people to know about him and to not use him.

In July 2023, I met with Brandon S***** of Bubs Handyman Service after a recommendation from my loan officer, where I obtained a HELOC. My deposit was $1,000 for kitchen countertops (paid July 28). While we were waiting on the countertops, he did a second estimate for bathroom and laundry room work and the deposit was $2,000 (paid Sept 8). An additional $30 was tagged on for afterthought lights. The total was $3030 paid via Venmo. The work was expected to be done in the fall. I checked in just before the holidays and Brandon stated he had COVID and hadn’t worked. I checked back after the holidays with no response. On January 4, 2024, I reached out to our mutual contact to see if he had talked with Brandon. I had concerns as he had been sick, and I thought maybe he didn’t bounce back. He was able to reach Brandon easily, who called me right away with an elaborate story that he had a phone number change so didn’t get messages but then later in the conversation said he was using both the old and new phone number, which didnt make sense. He also said he had been working on a chicken farm with no service so he didn’t get my messages; however, he was no longer on the farm, so messages would have come through. Regardless, he said he had not done any work yet because he had been so busy. He had ordered the bathroom vanity and it was in his garage, but hadn’t gotten the rest. He said he planned to come out the next week. We discussed the 11th or 12th, as I would be home. As of January 29th, I had not heard from him and sent an email for a refund. No response. On February 4th, I reached out to our mutual friend again, who said he would call right away. I also sent a request for a refund via Venmo. Brandon called quickly to that. I was at the vet, so I sent a text explaining my request. No response. I request a refund of my deposit ($3030) as no work was done. I’ve paid 11.6% interest rate for six months on this money with nothing in return. He should offer to cover that!

I utilized an aggregator service to request bids on multiple outdoor projects around my home in early 2023 including fence repair, construction of a privacy wall, tear down of an existing playset, and painting of some faux shutters on our home. Brandon came out to and wrote up an estimate. We decided to move forward with him for the work as summarized under invoice #*** for a total of $3100, of which he requested a deposit of $1100 up front for materials. We thought this was reasonable due to the amount of lumber needed for the job, so we sent him the $1100 deposit on 07/03/23 via ***** as he requested. Since then, we received no communication from him on when he'd start the job, so we began reaching out to him at regular intervals starting in mid August. We received excuse after excuse as to why he hadn't been out yet (completing a job out of town, family was sick/hospitalized with covid, waiting for the weather to be right, lumber order was delayed / misordered etc). He also kept switching phone numbers and methods by which he could be contacted (text / call / email) which was very suspicious. At this point he has stopped returning our emails / texts / calls and has no voicemail box set up on his latest number. I have sent him a formal request via ***** for a refund of our deposit and followed up with an email, call, and text to request the same. I can see read receipts on the texts but he has not responded. As it is clear he has no intention of doing this work, and we've seen no evidence our deposit was actually spent on materials, we consider this theft. We've given him an opportunity to avoid further problems (legally) by simply returning our deposit but he has not responded. I hope no one else has to go through this - we were much too trusting. We have evidence of all the times we've tried to contact him. He has since deleted the online invoice to which we had an emailed link.

I requested service to be completed from a different website and did not realize other people could bid on the jobs. This guy calls and shows up the next day to quote me to replace some trim work. I agreed upon the prices. He showed up and then showed me the chimney was rotten under the siding and I agreed on another price for materials and the chimney rebuild. This was began April 15, 2022. The next months were excuses of not getting the job done and texting back and forth. Once he said he “finished” the job he said that he had one piece of trim left that he couldn’t finish bc his ladder got stolen and I had carpenter ants that kept biting him. He took $100 off the bill and said we could settle up after the ants were taken care of. I had an exterminator come out and there were not any signs of ants, but he was a former contractor and said the job looked bitched. I had a new carpenter that came out to the house and took pictures of the job that was not completed, rebuilt, to the agreed upon specs. I paid roughly 5700 for service and materials. My new contractor, who is BBB certified, and is now rebuilding my chimney again, said there barely $500 of materials used in the botched job. I just do not want Bub’s Handy Service to ever mislead another customer and take their hard earned money.
