I made an appointment with Scott and sons to have them come and sweep my chimney. I don’t remember the exact dates that they came out. It was the week of February 12. I have a wood burner in my home. Upon arrival they told me that the chimney cap was crooked and they would fix it. They also explained to me they would remove the chimney cap and put the brushes down inside my chimney, and then empty out for such from inside. They finished the job that day and left. I thought all was well until I made a fire in the wood burner on Friday, February 16. It was a windy day, but this is my second winter in this home, and I have had a fire almost every day during the winter months, and I’ve never had trouble with the wind. As I said, I started a fire on February 16 and black smoke started to bow out of the wood burner. I opened up the door and the flames were shooting out, at least a foot into my living room, and the embers were flying everywhere. My entire house was filling with smoke and I couldn’t get near enough to put the fire out . Scott and sons, after I insisted, came out February 17. He brought the chimney cap into me and showed me that a small piece of aluminum had been wired onto it. He said someone came here and did that. They told me it was not there when they came to sweep the chimney, which was not true. I called the previous owners of my home, who lived next-door to me now, and he explained that his chimney sweep, put that aluminum on two block, some of the wind coming off of the lake. The chimney cap was put back on wrong with the aluminum piece, facing away from the lake, which caused all of the wind to gust directly down my chimney and caused the smoke and fire. I called Scott and told him what I had found and that I would like a refund because it was their mistake. He was very rude and used foul language. He called me stupid. I told him I was reporting him to the.BBB and I hung up the phone,
