There are pros and cons of course, let's start with the pros- My father had visits arranged for Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for medication reminders and light housework. The person who came on T/Th was wonderful. The person who came on the weekend often didn't show and only stayed for about 15 minutes. The real issue seems to be their management. Pro-active communication was very poor. I was never contacted if the caregiver called off. I asked for report backs about my Dad's care and got 1 of those the the week after I requested it and never again. When I texted the owner she answered very quickly but it was always a lot of very defensive texts about her personal life and about how challenging finding a caregiver for my father's needs was- she texted this repeatedly, making me feel that caring for my father was a burden to her company. When I let her know that the weekend person hadn't showed up again, I told her I would find someone else for the weekend shift, but please keep T/Th as that person was great. She then abruptly cancelled all services, leaving my dad without care for the following week. She did this because of "my complaining" when I told her the caregiver hadn't shown up again. All of this was done via text, she never took the time to actually call and try and sort this out. I would say that if you use Heavenly Helpers, just pay very close attention as their caregivers are inconsistent. They will not pro-actively check in either as they have no system- many other agencies actually have apps so you can monitor the care of a loved one. We have a camera in the apartment which was disclosed to the agency so I was able to tell when someone hadn't shown up. This is not something I should have to monitor as a client. It's just a poorly run, and poorly organized company that deserted my father's care because I had the audacity to let them know their caregivers weren't showing up and weren't calling to let us know. For $30 an hour, do better.

A Heavenly Helper Home Care Response

    10/30/2024

Wow, what a review! First of all, my name is Terri J., and I am the owner of A Heavenly Helper Home Care. I have no idea who you are and truly have never had a conversation with you either by phone, text or email. After reading and investigating your accusations against my company, and I assume you are referring to my Supervisor, Shar. Please let me set the record straight. A Heavenly Helper Home Care goes over and above to make sure our client's needs are met and that the caregiver is providing exceptional care. After researching who you are and who we take care of for you, I discovered that your father is one of our clients living in a gorgeous Independent Senior Living apartment in Hudson. Since you live out of state and cannot care for your parents, we realize that you have other disciplines taking care of them such as Hospice and Skilled Nursing as well as our 1-hour medication reminder. Out of 168 hours in a week, we see your father only 3 hours weekly. We have two permanent caregivers assisting residents in the Hudson facility from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. They assist residents with their medication reminders, bathing and personal care needs. We do not do light housekeeping in the Hudson building. We understand you have a permanent friend who is the primary care giver for your parents whose duties are cleaning, laundry and maintaining your parents daily living routines. On several occasions you have complained to Shar that our aide was not there even when the aide's app, which they use to clock in and out, shows they are there. On one particular call to Shar, she went to the apartment to check on your parents and to see if our aide was there and in fact the aide was there. Upon investigating the call, Shar discovered that you had your camera facing the kitchen area, not the main living area where our aide was caring for your father. Apparently, you rotate the camera to see your parents when they are in the kitchen and bedrooms. Through further research I have discovered that Shar has let you know that the number you keep calling is her personal cell phone number. A Heavenly Helper Home Care's main phone number, which you were given when you originally began using our services, was never used. You continually used to call Shar's personal cell number. Our main company's phone number has an on-call service that answers all calls after hours and on the weekends. Once a message is left on the on-call number it is directed to the current supervisor working that shift. After reviewing the 38 pages of texts, all initiated by you to Shar's personal cell, 99% of the time the calls were made before 6:30am and after 5:00pm. There are numerous calls and texts to Shar's personal cell from you placed on the weekends. Shar was gracious enough to answer each and every one of your calls and texts, even when she was off duty and during her vacation. Never once did she reply to you that you or your parents were a burden to her. I did discover that in one of your last texts to Shar that you threw out the word BURDEN! I also pulled all our phone records for our company's main number and our on-call service and neither have any records of calls or texts from your phone number. In regard to your statement that we have no systems in place, that is not true. We have a system in place that you usurp by calling Shar directly at all hours. So, as you put it in your letter, Pros and Cons, my response is these are the Actual Facts! A Heavenly Helper Home Care is and has always been caring, loving and respectful to all our clients and their families.
