The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On August 15, 2023, State of Ohio ex rel. Attorney General Dave Yost filed a complaint against Lonnell Jackson and Melchizedek d/b/a/ Royalty Automotive Group in Clermont County, Ohio. According to the complaint, Royalty Automotive Group failed to file applications for certificate of title within 30 days after the assignment or delivery of motor vehicles, sold motor vehicles to consumers that did not have certifications of title issued in the name of the dealership at the time of sale, and failed to obtain certificates of title in the name of consumer purchases on or before the 40th day after the sale of motor vehicles.
The complaint seeks for Royalty Automotive Group to pay damages to all consumers injured by the defendants' conduct, reimbursement to the Attorney General's Title Defect Recision Fund for funds expended to resolve title defect, $25,000 for each CSPA violation, prohibiting defendants form engaging in business as suppliers in any consumer transaction in the State of Ohio until they have satisfied all monetary obligations, prohibit defendant's from applying for or being granted any motor dealer or salesperson license, and court costs associated with the case.
