On April 7th, JP Home Renovations came out to my house as I found him on Angie's List to do some work on my house. He gave me a verbal estimate stating he would clean my gutters, fix the hanging gutters by installing clamps, fill the cracks on the side and back of my house and snake the drain in my basement. I was in the process of moving as I just purchased the home. I pulled into my driveway about 15 minutes after he supposedly arrived and he stated he already cleaned the gutters on the house and on the garage. He was going to start filling the holes on the side of the house. He said the gutters would be $360.00 plus another $360 just to fill the holes around the edges of the house. I found the same product that he was charging me $360 for at Home Depot for $12.00. I also paid him $100.00 to snake my drain which he claimed he snaked twice. He did not as I didn't see anything come out of the drain as he stated he did it twice and a bunch of fuzz and laundry material came out. It is still backed up. I had my son in law look at the gutters 2 days later and he said he did not do anything as they were clogged and filthy. JP Home Renovations LLC claimed he had a bucket of water in the truck and dumped that down one of my downspouts which was clogged. This whole time I never saw a ladder in which he would have had to climb up to my downspout in order for that to happen. Had a professional company come out and take actual pictures of my gutters on 4/21. They stated nothing has been done on these for a very long time. The concrete that he filled the cracks along the side of the house is now cracked and has holes, the drain was clogged and never worked after he left and now the gutters have not been cleaned. He clearly took my money $820.00 and when I contacted him kept putting me off. I have pictures and video to prove all of this. I have videos but they won't upload. I have to now pay for this to be done again by a professional.

    Business response

    05/09/2022

Hello this is James p*** owner of JPhomerenovations LLC. I’m responding back to this letter I received in the mail about a job I did for a customer named ******** * *****! I responded back to her interest with needing her gutters cleaned thru a platform I use call ANGI/ formerly Home Advisor. I went to her house that she was going to be moving into to look at the gutters to see all that was needed to complete this project for her. Anyway when I got there I got up on my ladder and looked at every gutter on the house and garage. I poured some water down the outlets on the inside of the gutters to see if the downspouts were clogged and to take note that if it needed to be removed and blew out . Then once my assessment was done I got down and went to my truck to get my phone and let her know that I looked at em and that I could come back the next day to start em for her. In the meantime she had pulled in behind me got out and I explained to her about my assessment concerning the gutters on her house /garage. She asked me about some other issues that needed done that the housing inspector had pointed out to her and suggested that everything needs to be done before moving in. So I walked with her to see about these other issues and once I looked at them all I told her I was able to take care of everything that the housing inspector documented. So we talked about prices with everything and we came to an agreement and I told her I can come back tomorrow to start these projects for her. Once I came back the next day I started in the basement with fixing her faucet assembly located on her utility tub . Then I snaked her floor drain located directly below the utility tub. I snaked it twice got out a lot of debris dAn the water in front of her for a few minutes to see that infact the drain was clear and to my knowledge it was draining fine as ******** * *****  seen and agreed also with what I had did. Then I looked At her ductwork to make sure her dampers were opened and providing the adequate amount of air flow throughout her house. Then I proc to the outside where the 1/2” crack along the foundation and driveway meet to start on the cleaning and sealing process. So I removed all the debris from the crack along the foun  and driveway  to start installing the backing material and sealer. Once I had finished the the foundation and driveway crack with the sealer and backing materials I started cleaning the gutters on the house . I the process of cleaning the gutters it had started rain really bad and I got down put away my ladder and tools . I knocked on the side door to explain everything that was going on and that I would have to come back to finish the cleaning process with the gutters once we have a good day with no rain . I also stated that once I come back I would look at the crack I repaired along the foundation and driveway to ensure that it properly sealed and that the rain didn’t damage the sealer and causing it to thin out and pull away from the foundation. ******** ****** stated that it wouldn’t be a problem with me coming back after we have a day with no rain. Also I stated that safety comes first when it comes to raining and being on any ladder in those conditions. ******** ****** completely agreed with what I had stated to her . Then I get a call about a week later asking that if I can come back the day she moves in so she can be there when I finish up this project for her. Then all of a sudden I received this letter inregards to a complaint about the work performed at this address on April 7th 2022.
