I wanted very much to buy a DoberDane from My Heartland Kennels, and placed my deposit to have an early pick in the litter. The first litter turned out to be a false pregnancy, which happens. I was notified a couple weeks before the birth of the next litter that the dam had complications and the whole litter was lost. She hoped to have another litter in three months. I told her that my husband and I were going to step back, and would just like our deposit returned at this point. ***** responded, The deposits are non-refundable as thats how we guarantee the placements of our pups. Otherwise, the deposits would be pointless to have. The placement of WHAT pups? I asked ***** to please point me to the non-refundable language on the website or in the puppy contract, as I was unable to locate any such statement. Even without the language, I would have been ok forfeiting our deposit if WE had looked at the puppies and decided never mind. I tried to explain multiple times that our contract had two parts: I would bring the money and she would bring the puppy. I had not broken the contract. Her end of the contract had been broken, for which I should not be punished. So far it has fallen on deaf ears. Not sure if I'm going to move forward to small claims court. Its the principle of the thing.

After picking up my dogs from Heartland Kennels and Boarding we discovered one of our dogs had f**** all over his underside and paws. The bedding we gave them a water proof pad and blanket were covered in f**** it took using hose because it was so caked on the bedding to get of off. Im very upset and a little shocked this was my first experience boarding needles to say never will I board or take them to this facility. They obviously dont care about the well being of the dogs and neglected to take care of them as they should. Please warn people not to take their dogs there under staffed and careless my dogs should of never came home in that condition!!!

We are so sorry it was a bad experience. However. As you were told when you called and when you picked up, your dogs hated boarding. They went in and out with no problems, but on the last day, they apparently went inside on their bedding. Had we seen it, we would have hosed it off, but we did not see it until we picked up their stuff to go home. We know for certain that it wasn't there for days because we were in and out of their run constantly trying to get them to warm up to us. We also would have tried to wash the dog that was messy had we seen it prior to his pick up, but he was growling at us and made it clear he wouldn't have tolerated it anyway. You were informed of the mess when you picked up. Two of us were present when you picked up and you were told specifically that the boys bedding badly needed washed because it had gotten messy but we couldn't say if it was from gastric bile or f**** But you were told it was messy and it would need washed immediately. And you said you understood. Again, we're sorry it was a bad experience, but this is not a normal occurrence at our facility. 99% of dogs do very well boarding with us.
