MJB / ******** ******* is the definition of a fraudster and scammer. Look his name up in the ************************* and see how many times he has been sued for starting a job, taking money, and then refusing to do the job. I contracted with him to conduct a renovation that should have lasted no more than three months. As the deadline got close, he delayed, delayed, and delayed with countless excuses. He provided false updated and pictures to obtain more payments from ***** make this even more wild, I was doing this rehab while I was stationed overseas with the ************. I was conducing this rehab so I could obtain enough money to leave the ************ safely without financial risk. I told Mr. ******* that I really needed him to finish the job because with all the payments I made him and how long he delayed for, I had zero money left and needed to do this cash out. I told him I risk being a homeless veteran if he does not finish the job, but he did not care in the least. Talked a big talk, thank you for your service, tying to butter me up and all that nonsense but still completed absolutely zero work. It wasn't until I returned to the ** and immediately hopped on a flight to **** did he throw up a few sheets of siding and drywall in an effort to look busy. He then threw a tantrum and walked off the job and refused to return any of the money he took from me. All in all, the work he actually did over almost six months: Demo in two rooms, four sheets of drywall, and some siding. He returned some supplies he bought with my money but not all of them. He refuses to refund any money claiming it was all taken up by labor. Unless he is paying his laborers more than doctors and lawyers, there is no way that is accurate.

I retained Mr ******* of MJB Home Renovations to upgrade my kitchen the cabinets, countertops, & backsplash. He came highly recommended so instead of calling Home Depot I decided to give a black entrepreneur a try. I met with Mr ******* in February I enquired about the countertops & backsplash only because because I wanted new cabinets from Home Depot. He informed me he could do the work & as for the cabinets he could paint them & they would look just as beautiful as new ones. He was confident in his skills. The total price was 2,700 & I would pay for all the materials. I gave MJB 1,300 down the 1st week of March. He then took all of the hardware for the cabinets & he took all of the cabinet doors. He informed me that he had a special room where the cabinets would be painted, glazed & baked. Over a period of 3 months he cancelled MANY appointments & he came over again to paint liquid sand onto the cabinets. Liquid sand was left on my stove and had not been painted on the bottom of the cabinets so I asked Home Depot if this was the best process to take especially since it was thrown together. They informed me that my specific cabinets needed to be sanded and primed for the paint to adhere so me & my daughter fixed the error, MJB was informed & said he didn't mind. This was done in April, I asked MJB why he was taking so long because he had given a shorter time frame for the job & now here it was May & I was given more excuses. With so little being done MJB insisted I pay him for the countertops and other materials so I paid him $881. He gave no receipt & the tags were removed, I had no warranty but eye found a sku# and he overcharged me for the countertops, they were extremely low grade & were possibly purchased from the refurbishing store the estimated price was $200 plus tax. After complaining he brought the doors back w/drips, brush strokes, knicks & scratches. I told him I wanted my money back he said NO, he took advantage of me & said he had the right to finish.

MJ created a contract to replace my back French door with a sliding door, and also to install an 8 foot by 8 foot deck. He stated he would do the door 1/9/23- texted that week that he could not start until 1/12 or 1/13/23. Started the door project on 1/13/23. It is still not complete on 2/20/23. He has broken the floor by the door in two places, not caulked off the door, made holes in the wall that he took weeks to patch, left my siding open to the elements and did not replace the sill plate. He cut holes in the sill plate that exposed my basement underneath the door to the elements, then screwed in a board to ‘fix’ it that subsequently went through the floor above. When he originally started the door project, he left the trash from the job in my yard for weeks. I am still picking up nails and insulation and pieces of metal siding out of my grass. He has made multiple excuses why he has to reschedule coming out to ‘finish’ the job, lied about ordering pieces needed for the job and then lied when questioned about the original lie, and lied about the price quoted to me on my contract that is listed. I cancelled the deck job with him due to the horrible quality of work and bad communication and he didn’t refund me fully. My siding still sits open to the elements and no contractor wants to ‘fix’ the job MJ started and has not finished. He will not answer my phone calls and rarely responds to texts.
