On June 2, 2023, the State of Ohio ex rel. Attorney General, Dave Yost, filed a Complaint and Request for Declaratory Judgement, Injunctive Relief, Consumer Restitution, Civil Penalties, and Other Appropriate Relief against Preferred Rentals and Planning owner, Alianna Cantrell, in the Court of Common Pleas, Richland County, OH. Ms. Cantrel, who sometimes operated under the name "Weddings by Alianna,” is accused of One Count - committed unfair or deceptive acts or practices in violation of the CSPA, R.C. 1345.02(A), by entering into contracts with consumers to provide wedding related services and products, and then accepting deposits for the same without providing the contracted services and products or making a refund.
