    Sales Order No.: ********* ******** ** **** *********  I ordered a hard-to-find book from Discover Books thru the ******** ecommerce platform. Discover books sent me the wrong book. When I reported this error, I was told to contact Discover Books for a remedy. Discover Books does not accept phone calls and does not respond to email. They have a chat feature on their website, but it appears to be dead as there are no responses. I want Discover to remedy their error and send the correct book, "******** **" as ordered and paid for.

    In response to complaint ID ******** we have replied to the customer via email and through ******* regarding the incorrect item being shipped. We understand that the customer purchased ******** ** but received ******** *. This is soley our error with both the listing and the shipping of the item. Firstly, we listed ******** * as ******** ** and then shipped the incorrectly listed edition.

     

    The customer filed a return/refund request through ******* on 10/5/2022 and emailed us the same day. However, both the return/refund request and the email were sent to us after our normal business hours, but we did reply to **** the next day 10/6/2022 with an immediate resolution. Unfortunately, we did not have a copy of ******** ** in stock to ship, so our only course of action was to issue a full refund, which we did. The refund was issued on 10/6/2022 and we did not nor are we requesting to have the incorrect book returned to us. **** may keep or donate the book as he sees fit.

    On May 2, 2022, I ordered a book titled "A People's History of the United States" by author Howard Zinn, through the ecommerce platffom, ABEBOOKS.com The book I ordered was described by the seller, Discover Books of Toledo Ohio, as having a hardback binding, used, and in very good condition, for a price of $14.30 plus sales tax. These details were listed in the original offer, the purchase order, and the order confirmation sent to me. On May 9, 2022, I received a book with the same title but with a paperback binding. Identical titles with the same paper binding and very good condition list for $5.92 or less on ABEBOOKS. I complained to ABEBBOOKS who forwarded my complaint to Discover Books. A response from Discover Books on May 10, offered to send me another book, but the offer omits any description of the binding or condition.

    The buyer did contact us, and we offered a replacement. According to our inventory listing, the replacement offered is the same title and binding as the buyer's original purchases. If for any reason, the item is not as expected, we will offer additional resolution options.

    This website buys textbooks from college students. I sold my books to them (a few being pretty expensive compared to the others I had) after reading the reviews for this business that most people successfully traded in their books for cash and it was not a scam. I have a copy of the receipt I received from USPS on the day I took it to the post office. I bought a large box which the receipt shows was a 12x10x8 to deliver the textbooks in. I taped up the entire box myself and it reads on the receipt that it weighed 14 pounds. After weeks, I finally get word from the company that only 1 small textbook was received and the other 4 were "missing from the package". After speaking to their customer service team, they said it arrived in "a single wrapped package" containing the one book. This is impossible as I have proof of the receipt and handed it over to the post office myself. They refuse to give me my money or textbooks back. It's disgusting this business is allowed to operate to scam young college students out of their money who are in debt for thousands due to such books and institutions we use them for.

    The trader reached out to us about their trade, and it was explained that we received their trade, but it was only one book that was damaged. The associate that checked in this trade made the following notes:

     

    • only one item sent, individually wrapped. No room for other books.
    • Only item sent has pages falling out

     

    In our Terms and Conditions, under the section of ‘Things to know,’ we state:

     

    • Due to volume and additional shipping cost, books that are rejected will not be returned .
    • We are not responsible for books that are damaged or lost in the mail.

     

    We understand the frustration the trader is facing. However, we have followed our policy and procedure and explained to the trader that we cannot issue payment without the products.
