Beck electric installed a whole house Generac generator and did all of the electrical work and all of the gas natural gas work. After a period of months, I realized that my ceiling lights were flickering. I started to replace lightbulbs, thinking they were going bad and then realized I was having the problem in the garage, the living level, upstairs, bedrooms, and basement. I contacted Beck electric told them my problem and requested the electrical connections, be checked and rechecked. I informed them the problem had nothing to do with the generator as the generator was not online. Beck sent a generator maintenance man to my house looked at the generator and looked at the transferred switch. He was not an installer. He was not the electrical repair man. He was only maintenance for the ******* generator. I contacted Beck and told them again I don’t have a generator problem. I have flickering lights without the generator, running or ever going online I uploaded a bill I got from back which included additional generator troubleshoot, shooting time. I did not request any generator assistance at all. I just wanted them to recheck their connections in the electrical meter transfer switch and house pan Beck informs me there is no maintenance agreement and to contact **** ****** which I did. **** ****** checked from the transformer pad to the house meter. Beck has billed me $183.00Business response

To Whom it May Concern:
In response to **********, complaint received by BBB on 1/27/2024, and received by Beck Electric, Generators & Plumbing on 2/02/2024.
Beck Electric, Generators & Plumbing installed a generator for this customer on 11/22/2023 at his home.
At the time of install, the customer was properly trained on how the generator works and signed off as such (see attached).
On 1/02/2024, we received a phone call from the customer stating that the unit was leaking a yellow/orange water substance, and the generator had a red service light on. The customer turned off the generator via the stop switch. They elected to schedule a service call. On 1/04/2024, our technician arrived onsite, per technician's notes:
"Upon arrival the generator was off. Customer had flipped the emergency shut down switch on the back of the generator. / I observed white brown and orange stain on concrete on the right side of the generator. I opened lid to generator and took off front cover. Nothing out of the ordinary was observed. Removed right side panel. It was then that I observed that the battery warmer was melted. Upon further investigation, it was found that the battery is cracked and had leaked battery acid. This resulted in the battery warmer melting and shorting out. I unplugged the battery warmer and unhooked battery. Removed battery from generator. Customer was observing from the beginning and observed the issue. After discussion with customer, the customers decided that they want to take the issue to their lawyer to discuss it with them. Customer stated that when they hear back from the lawyer, they will give the office a call. Customer was advised this would be a warranty job per Josh. No battery or battery warmer were installed at this time as requested by the customer. Customer refused warranty service.
After inspecting the removed battery, it appears that the battery did not leak or explode, it appeared to be hit with something like a hammer, which caused the crack. The battery had an indent crack, not an explosion crack, which does not appear to be from a battery exploding.
On 1/08/2024, girlfriend of the customer called the office, immediately upset, and demanded someone come back out and look at the generator again. She said her concrete was ruined and wanted someone to fix the issue "Now". We reminded her that we did try to fix it, 4 days prior, and she refused warranty service. The CSR told her that we would schedule another service call if need be, and customer hung up on our phone representative. Customer and girlfriend then came to the office at Beck Electric Company twice, looking for the Owner to talk to. At which time they were told that the owner is not currently in.
Customer then received a return call from Beck, and was scheduled a return service call trip for 1/10/2024. At which time we cleaned up the concrete, added a concrete gen-pad under the generator, at NO cost to the customer, and installed a new battery warmer and battery, again, under warranty, no cost to the customer. Generator was started and ran a cycle, everything was working properly.
On 1/19/2024, customer called in to our technician inquiring about their manufacturer warranty, and asked MANY questions about the process and the duration of said warranty.
On 1/20/2024, customer called the office line on a Saturday at 12:07 pm, our CSR answered the call, it was this customer, he said his generator is on fire, and he called the fire department, and then hung up. Our service representative, Kyle, returned his call and the customer again refused service.
We requested a report from the local fire department, and according to the fire department, the generator was never on fire and the thermal readings were negative, no sign of smoke detected. (please see attached report).
We had a representative drive by the site, at a later date, there was no physical evidence of any fire or damage to the generator.

Better Business Bureau:
In response to the Beck response of my complaint I D #********
On 1/02/24 1 called Beck about a RED light on a NEW Generator installed by Beck on 11/22/23. I was told that I must pay a $294.00 charge. I said no that it was under warranty.( was sent a bill dated 1/04/24 also due 1/04/24.)
Also got a bill for $770.83.( No cost WARRANTY?)
1/20/24 called. Beck told them the Firemen were on their way if they were interested. Also called Kyle ****** (twice) Never heard from them again until Kyle ****** called on 2/3/24 to come and look at the generator.
Told him it was tagged by Insurance Investigator and not to be toughed. I also did not want any one from Beck on my property (as per insurance )
Mr, Beck sells an excellent product. Both he and his team need help with their customer (ELDERLY) skills, or lose their franchise.
OH! My girl friend is also my wife.

In response to complaint #********:
On 1/02/2024, customer did call us with a red light on his generator. We completed a service call on 1/04/2024, as scheduled by the customer. This is where we determined that it looked like someone/something hit the battery inside the unit. We offered to repair under warranty ,and were refused service. That is the only charge the customer has incurred, please see the attached statement. This was only due to the fact the customer scheduled a service call, but refused warranty service, so unfortunately we can not submit a ******* Warranty claim for payment, without performing warranty work. The customer never received a bill for $770.83, that was an estimate for the warranty repairs, to be billed to ******* warranty, not the customer.
The customer called our Call Center on 1/20/2024- identified himself, and yelled the generator is on fire, and then hung up. We did call the customer back to see how we could help, no repsonse. We also received the fire department report, and nothing was on fire, and the generator had zero damage to the unit. He never called Kyle ****** twice, he was calling one of our service technicians, who is not on call on the weekend, and therefore did not receive the call or call him back. Kyle ****** however did try calling this customer several times, with no answer.
We also repaired the battery damage to the customer's concrete free of charge, and did everything we could to make this customer happy. Unfortunately refunding the money for a generator that has been installed since 11/22/2023 is not an option, it is under warranty and repairs can be made if needed thru warranty. The customer is welcome to contact any ******* Service Provider to have any future warranty items repaired.
We would also be happy to remove the service call invoice for $294.00 from this customer's account.
Thank you!
