Good afternoon,I attempted to purchase two electric fireplaces online for pick up in the store. Both fireplaces were 54% off. I was unable to complete the sale through the website, even when using two different credit cards. My mother and brother went to pick up the items in the store this morning and were denied the advertised 54% off. The store manager and employee refused to honor the online sale price, even though the store was going out of business. They insisted on charging full price for both items. When I attempted to call customer service, I was told that they did not see any reduction in price and the call was disconnected. When I called back and spoke to another representative, I was told that the website was down since January first. However, the website is working up until the point of purchase. I was also told that for the price of items in the store are at the discretion of the store manager. I find this practice and experience to be very deceptive and deceitful for the consumer from a national company. They should be held accountable for these actions.Big Lots Response

I have been a customer of your ********************** for over 30 years at your stores in ***************. Had a horrible experience at your location on ******************* here in ************ ** with my $300 gift card that I have had as a store credit from a warranty issue with my furniture from Big Lots. I was so excited to use this today since things were even discounted because the store is closing soon. Unfortunately, I see at checkout that the store has a sign that gift cards cannot be used in the store as of yesterday the 17th. The store manager was very rude about this with me just kindly asking for an exception. He had no apology/courtesy or anything and rudely kept saying "your gonna have to email them, there is nothing I can do"So, today the 18th I just called your ***** number to explain my situation and what the store manager told me to do. The 2 customer service **** I spoke with had a generic reply that gift cards can only be used as of yesterday. I asked to kindly to please escalate this and please let me speak to a supervisor and I was hung on 4 times! 4 times in a matter of 10 min. Kindly asking to speak to a supervisor and they disconnected the call. I called again and this time I recorded the call and asked for a supervisor and she put me on hold for 10 min and said her ****** ***** said there is nothing we can do and then hung up on me again! I have an audio recording of this phone call for proof I understand yesterday was the last day to use this gift card apparently, but there must be an exception that can be made here. I had no idea of knowing this as a customer prior. I have $300 on this gift card that was issued to me directly from Big Lots and I need at least to be reimbursed or a refund check issued to me. This would be very unethical to deny my gift card and not offer a reimbursement. Big Lots is still open here for business how, so how can you deny the gift card?A customer for 30 years, please dont end on this note. Please make it right.Big Lots Response

I did and your customer service **** hang up on me everytime! I keep asking for a supervisor to help me and you hang up on me. You stole $300 for me and no person from your Company wants to make this right. I have emailed your leadership teams at Big Lots over 10 times and not a single reply. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I have been going to Big Lots for over 30 years. I am shocked that not a single person at Big Lots is wanting to help me. So I will be posting this in other places and share the audio recordings of your horrendous customer service.Review from Michael V

This location is part of a scam. Going out of business, not going out of business? No notice to customers about no return policy or going out of business, verbally, with signs or online. Don't shop this location. My daughter is out $50 due to no fault of her own. They would not refund or exchange two defective Christmas items.Big Lots Response

Ordered a York table and chairs set online and received a Yorktown table. Not what I ordered but called to say I would keep the table but would need to be refunded the $200 difference since I now needed to buy chairs. 5 days later got a response that I would have to contact the store since it was a direct ship order. The store tried to say it wasnt a direct ship store and I must have had somebody pick the order up. When I explained it was an online order and the customer care **** told me to call them directly they said they could not find my order in the system. I told them my order number and they told me they didnt know what to do but I would have to come to the store to get a refund. I said Im not sure why. This was an affirm order online so there is no card to refund too, it needs to be refunded to the purchasing payment method. She told me she would have to talk to the furniture manager who was off that day and would be in the next and get back to me and it has been another 4 days and nothing. Just because the store is closing doesnt mean you dont do right by the customers you do have. I need a refund and I shouldnt have to go to the store when the order was placed online.Big Lots Response

I called Big Lots store in **************** today after I saw online this store was closing. I started my conversation with I heard some bad news you were closing and can you please tell me the date so I can get there. The response from the lady that answered was horriffic! She was so rude and said to me Why would you call and ask that? That's horrible of you!! Well idk, maybe because I am a long time customer and wanted to come shop there before they close permanently!!! She refused to help me and continued to be extremely rude so I said Well now I won't be shopping there or any other Big Lots because of her. And I will make sure to tell all my family and friends not to go there either.Sorry the store is closing but while still open you should not have a horrible, nasty person answering the phone! I had possibly the worst customer service experience I've ever had with this company. With no fault at all to their very friendly underpaid, outsourced CS agents. I had accidentally placed an order online and immediately called CS to cancel. Was told they would cancel the order and call the 3rd company who delivers. The next morning I received a text that my delivery was on it's way so I called back CS and this time was told that I would have to call the 3rd party myself to cancel. Asked if they could transfer my call to them, as I was on the road with two kids and it was difficult to write down a number. They could not transfer my call, I'm sorry, it's 2024 and Big Lots has NO capability to transfer a call or 3 way call? I called 3rd party to cancel, order still arrived and I had to reject it. Received a text that my order was "delivered" and no further communication that my order had been cancelled or returned. Called back CS to confirm my order had been returned that I would no incur any fees and that my refund is being processed. They again told me that I needed to call the store it was purchased from. Store I purchased from? This was an online order. They could not confirm with me what store it was shipped from and again would not/could not transfer my call. Could not confirm anything about my return or refund. My order didn't even specify which store it was shipped from. Thankfully a sales *** at my local store told me to search online and see which store had the item in stock. I'm so confused why to even have a customer service department if they are essentially useless to customers. This was super frustrating for me, I did finally get confirmation that my return was received and my refund will be processed. I have very low expectations that will be processed without an issue and I'm praying that I do not have to pick up the phone and dial that useless customer service number. I'll NEVER purchase from here again and will be advising my friends against it.Review from JERRY Q

We recently purchased furniture for the 12 months same as cash. We received our 1st statement and I paid accordingly, so that it would be paid off prior to the 12 month promotion. When I received my 2nd statement, there were interest charges added. My husband called the store, they had him call the bank, they had him call corporate...you get the point. All they wanted to do was push the blame. We paid it off and will never buy anything from there again. It was really a joke. No one wanted to deal with the issue. I left one star because that is the lowest that you can leave.Big Lots Response

Purchased a gazebo on 7-5-2024 from the ********** TPK location in ********, **. The store personnel were excellent. My complaint is with the corporate customer service **** as listed. The initial call was to request a refund which was subsequently approved by the regional manager. I was told the refund would be issued back to the card used within 2 to 5 business days. This did not occur. **** confirmed no refund was initiated by Big Lots. The first ticket number was closed as completed and received an email stating the same even though, it was never resolved. Placed another call to BL advising it was not resolved. A 2nd ticket was issued for the refund and still is not resolved.Calls to the corporate ************* were made on 8-12, 8-22, 8-29, 8-30 and 9-10-24. Requested a call back from a supervisor on 8-30-24 and never received one. A refund still has not been received.Big Lots Response

Should be zero stars but cant leave that of course. We know youre failing as a business and that is probably why you hire what you can get. We wanted to purchase a chair, we were told it was not on the floor and could not buy that chair. They told us there was the same chair 23 miles away ant another store and to call them. We talked to the personnel there and the skew number matched up with what we were told at our local store They held it and we picked up the next day. I was out of town and did not put the chair together till the following day. As I put it together my wife showed me the picture and it was not the same chair, as the wools decor was different. Mind you it was listed as the same chair but it was different. The one we requested, took pictures of and wanted had cross style wood on the arm area and back, this chair we got was like a baby crib with wood straight lined up and down on back and arms. We called trying to figure out what had happened and got some nice response from two employees who told us absolutely take it back to our local store and get refund and see if we could get correct chair. We called and my wife talked with a female employee in the furniture department, she got extremely defensive and said we had to return the chair back to where we got it even though we had already been told to take it back locally to our store. She basically told my wife she was rude and hung up on her, then my wife called back and another *** said if you werent so rude we would help you and hung up again. Now all my wife wanted was answers, why was there the same skew for two different looking chairs? When could we get the chair we were wanting in the first place and why couldnt she return it to our local store vs having to drive23 miles back to return. They are the same store.. she was treated like she was the problem when some entitled little sh-t head wanted to cop an attitude and tell us how it was going to be.
