I took my 2004 GMC Yukon Denali to Same Day Auto to find out why every time I tried to put gas in my vehicle the pump would shut off. After they looked at it I was told I needed a new charcoal canister and the tank needed to be dropped and cleaned. I got my vehicle back and two times I got gas and it was good but after that I had the same problem persisted trying to get gas. I took it back in and they said they checked some hoses then i was told later i might need a new feul tank and I still had the same problem. I took it back in and they said everything was cleared. I asked if they would refund my money because I still had the same problem but of course they wouldn't stand behind their work.Business response

On October 18, 2024 the 2004 GMC Yukon presented with difficulty fueling. The technician found that the Fuel Vapor Charcoal Cannister had failed and released debris into the fuel vapor vent hoses. The technician replace the Fuel Vapor Charcoal Cannister and cleared the vent lines of debris. The vehicle returned on 11/18/24 complaining of continued difficulty fueling and had a full tank of gas at that time. The customer was advised to return when the truck was down to a half tank of fuel and that the fuel tank may need to be replaced. The vehicle returned on 11/26/24 with a half tank for fuel. The technician verified that the vapor cannister was in working order and the vent hoses were clear. The customer was advised again that the truck may need a new fuel tank, but that there were no new fuel tanks available for this vehicle. Dropped off the car 7/8/24 was told should be about a 2 hour job to replace the breaks. Stated they were having a calibration issue but they are still working on it. Called again at 4 and was told theres a programming issue they are trying to fix. They called us at 5:47 PM to say they are bringing a specialist in first thing in the morning and needed to keep it over night. Spoke again around 3 and was told they still couldnt figure out the issue and were scheduling a Porsche specialist to look at it. They stated the car was safe to drive and it was simply a program issue. My wife mentioned the brakes seemed less responsive and the parking brake showed it was disabled. I drove it a few times as well and noticed the car would not stop quickly no matter how hard you pressed the break. We dropped it back off for the specialist to look at Monday 7/15/24. I told them when we dropped it off about the parking brake disabled and the brakes not working properly and they stated they would look into it. They stated the specialist stated the parking brake actuators were malfunctioning. They told me it would be $3500 to replace both actuators. I asked them why I was responsible when it stopped working while they had it. They stated they did not cause the problem. I told them none of the issues it was having started until after they stated working on it. I told them its concerning that they couldnt figure out what was wrong with it and had to have 2 specialist come in to look at it. It seems like they caused the issue and maybe didnt realize it until a specialist looked at it. They told me they already knew before what the problem was they just wanted to bring in a specialist to verify, but they never told me what they thought the issue was and said the car was safe to drive. I asked them to fix the damages they caused and finish fixing the breaks as I already paid for that. They stated it would cost $1920 to fix the issue on top of the $1300 I spent on the brakes.Business response

Mr. *************************** has been a client of ours since 2015. We have serviced and repaired his 2013 **** F-150, 2015 Jeep Patriot, and the most current vehicle, a 2017 Porsche Cayenne. He has a total of 63 invoices for these vehicles. ******************** is not a customer; he is a client. At the same time, a 2017 Porsche Cayenne is not the most economical vehicle on the market for maintenance. According to ******************, this vehicle, in a matter of five years, could possibly require $9528 in maintenance and $11,182 in repairs.
******************** required brake maintenance on his vehicle. This vehicle incorporates an electronic mechanical parking brake. When you are servicing this vehicle for the brakes, it must be programmed to release the parking brake completely so you can install the new brake pads. An experienced technician performed this. After the newly installed brake pads are completed, you must use the same tool to reprogram it so the computer knows it has installed new brake pads. When the tool was activated, the electronic mechanical parking brake actuators were instructed to recalibrate, but they would not. This required us to go into full diagnostic mode and spend hours of unbillable time finding the solution to ************************ issues with the worn and non-responsive electrical components. When we determined that we were confident that the parts had failed electronically, we hired an outside company to come in and diagnose it at no charge to ********************. They came to the same conclusion as we did.
Regrettably, the parts in question have failed and are beyond repair. Replacement is the only viable solution.
It's important to note that neither we nor ******************** are at fault in this situation. The need for this level of maintenance is simply a part of the territory when dealing with such repairs.
We have offered ******************** the opportunity to purchase the parts at his cost and bring them to us. We would install them at no charge and reprogram them at our expense to solve this problem. ******************** did not accept this offer; however, it is still open and on the table. As of July 31st,2024, we will offer this for another 15 days, and then the offer will be off the table.
Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:
I have made several visits since I bought this car. When I first purchased the car I asked if I should be taking it to a specialty shop. They told me no, they are certified for these cars and it would be fine. I brought it in for an oil change and when I went to pick it up a message popped up saying it was overfilled. I brought it back and they fixed it. I asked then at that time again if I should take it somewhere else. They stated no we got this its all good. I brought it in for tires and one of the sensors wasnt working when I picked it up. We brought it back and they fixed it and I asked again if I should be taking it somewhere because little mistakes keep happening. I brought it in for the brakes and never got any follow up calls after 4 hours in. And then after everything they stated its not their fault, I have a hard time believing that when there has been mistakes made every time I brought it in. And no one knew the problem for sure until someone directly from Porsche came in to check it. I firmly feel that Same Day should be paying for the damage due to them not fully know the problem and not having proof that they didnt cause the problem because there was no issues when it was brought to you.Customer response

The business was unable to give me any proof that they didnt cause the problem but when I brought it in everything was working fine. The fact that they had to bring a specialist in to confirm the issue makes it seem very obvious that they could have very possibly accidentally caused the issue while fixing the brakes. I dont understand how they can say that they didnt cause the issue when there was no issues when I brought it in. The issue occurred after they replaced the brakes. Which would align with them accidentally breaking it.Customer response

Hello, I wanted to inform you that the business contacted me directly and finished fixing the car and I only had to buy the parts. Can we remove the claim or add that they resolved the issue? ThanksInitial Complaint

I had my tires rotated and one of the wheels came loose a couple months later. They were super nice. Told me they wpuld help me resolve it. I work every day that they are opem so we agreed that i would fix my truck since im a mechanic also. I was told to send in what my parts would cost. It was going to be 360 for a wheel and five studs. Once i did that they turned around and said they would not pay it. I added no money for labor time or anything. Went back in there to get documentation of the sign offs to verify wheels were torqued. They didnt have any. They also said since i didnt bring it back within a 100 miles that i was out of luck. They rotated them for free so i never signed a paper showing the 100 mile return to retorque procedure. The manager started cussing saying he wasnt going to argue and to get a lawyer. I got loud back. Then an employee tried to fight me but they held him back. I just want the money for my wheel and studs nothing more. And i was super nice and respectful as were they until they went back on there word about paying for the damages.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/04) */ To whom it may concern, Our client **** ****** came in on 3/4/2022 to have tires rotated on his Dodge Ram 1500 that had 146,233 miles on it at that time. He had then called on 7/16/2022(talked to Mike) to inform us that his wheel had come loose and he was stuck on the side of the road, we had offered him towing to get the vehicle back to our shop so we could evaluate the problem to see what had happened. He at that time told us he had an interview in Owasso, Ok that he had to be at in 30 minutes. He had said it broke one lug nut and the other four were loose, again we offered to tow it to our shop for evaluation at which he declined again saying he could tighten it up and would come in the next day due to needing his vehicle. At this point, he did not show up or call until 7/22/2022(talked to Ayson) at which he called and said that the wheel had come loose again (after he had tightened it up). We offered to tow again, which he had declined, saying he would bring it by the following day to have it checked. On 7/23/2022 he had come by our location to have it inspected. We pulled the vehicle into the shop to check over the issue. The first thing we do when pulling the vehicle in is get the information and mileage, the client has driven 8,558 miles. Found that one lug nut and two studs were damaged and the lug holes on the wheel were damaged. At that time Mike had offered to replace the damaged lug nuts and studs with new ones and install his spare tire until he could discuss the problem with the manager(Dustin) on Monday. The client had declined any repairs saying it wasn't that big of a problem that he was a mechanic and could do it himself. Mike at that time asked if he could at least buy the studs and lug nuts for him, again he said wasn't that big of a deal and would do it himself. On 7/27/2022 the client called our shop again, saying he had found the wheel and ordered it and wanted us to pay for it. At this time the manager Dustin had talked to him and tried to explain the reasons behind not covering the wheel. First, the client had driven 8,558 miles which is over the manufactures specifications for performing tire rotation (manufacturer specifications are 5,000-7,500 miles). Second, it has been 4 months since it was last seen in our facility, and if it was not tightened properly then it would have come loose before 8,558 miles. Third, the copy of the receipt that he had paid $10 to have tires rotated on 3/4/2022 states at the bottom "Same Day Tire and Auto Repair Recommends To Bring Your Vehicle Back After 100 miles to Re-Torque Your Alloy or Aluminum Wheels After Any Type of Repair Where Removing Wheels is Necessary". This is a necessity to have done when you have aftermarket wheels on a vehicle. Fourth, on 7/27/2022 when he came by to tell us we were paying for the wheel, we never tried to fight him(which we have a video of when he came in), we had informed him of the reasons behind not covering the repairs and he started to get loud and cuss at several employees with customers in the lobby, at this time I(Dustin) told him he needed to leave if he was going to act like that, which he refused. I had no other choice but to call the police and have him removed due to his behavior. The police asked if I would like to press charges or file trespassing papers at which I declined saying the was no need for that we just didn't want him in the lobby cussing and being loud. To conclude I would like to add we have phone conversations each time he called in where we tried to help him but he declined each time. I feel that we are not responsible in this matter for several reasons. The customer neglected to bring in the vehicle on 7/16/2022 when he had first noticed the problem, instead choose himself to continue to drive for an additional week before bringing it in(which could have caused further damages). Also going over the manufactures specifications on when to bring it back. Finally, the mileage is driven, I strongly believe that if it was something we had done it would not have lasted 8,558 miles. Thank you for your time. Same Day Auto Repair Attached original invoice as well
