I purchased a vehicle from Ron Tonkin Chevrolet in January of 2024 they gave me a temp tag that expired February 10th 2024. I received a notice from *********************** on the 9th of February saying there was a delay in with the department of motor vehicles in getting my title, and registration to me. ***** said in the letter they would issue me a new temp registration tag for 60 days to get me through I see my title and registration. I have reached out to her with no answer because as of today the 21st I still have not received this tag. I have not been able to legally drive my new truck for 11 days that I traded a truck in for with no money owed because they have not followed through on there end. I dont feel this is at all right as they had title in hand on my truck and have already sold it. all though I own this truck outright if having to make a payment on a 52k plus truck for it to sit because of the dealerships neglect I believe I should be entitled to compensation. If making a payment it would roughly be ****** and now for 11 days not being able to drive it would have cost ****** for it to sit.Business response

I went in with my parents to get a truck on 10/20/23 we paid the vehicles ****** and registration fees I was given a temp tag till 1/18/24 when the new year started I texted the sales rep who assisted us and asked about the plates he told me they would be a day or two behind and I should get them close to the temp tag expiration. I called the dealership and spoke with the ****** clerk she told me there was a delay on the be hikes plates due to an odometer discrepancy which I was never told about and she was to send me the letter through pdf I never received and was told to get a temp tag through dmv because they would not be able to provide one for me so I did I told them my new temp tag expiration date and they said the issue should be resolved by then , I called again because I have not received an update or the delay letter I provided an email once again never received it until they finally mailed it to my home address and the letter has the date 11/12/23 meaning they new less than a month after I got the truck no notice, they still have not resolved anything more me I emailed the ****** clerk no response called no response or call back I am unsure if the dmv will issue more than two temp tags and there is no information on attempts to reach the first owner of the vehicle! I got the vehicle with ****** miles on the odometer I have all paperwork as well as *** Tonkin doing a recall service in December with odometer reading I signed up with car fax and it says it has close to ****** miles on the car. I need this vehicle for every day use I feel I may be a victim of fraud I want this issue to be resolved. Whats the point of them going through a private company to get plates and tittles if they arent efficient? How is it that they could sell the vehicle in the first place if the odometers did not match this is unacceptable!!!Business response

I purchased a 2011 Corvette ZR1 on 9.1.23.I paid the service for Ron Tonkin Chevrolet of Portland to process the paperwork to file for my title through the Oregon ***.I was issued a 2 week temporary trip permit by the finance manager (I paid cash for the car).4 weeks passed, no title arrived yet. I called the dealership and spoke with *****. She told me that title paperwork was submitted to thrn*** on 9.28.23. She suggested I pay the *** and get another 2 week trip permit so I did.A total of 6 weeks passed, no title. I called and spoke with ***** again, she said she would send me an email with updates and suggested I purchase another trip permit, so I did reluctantly.Today is 11.14.23. 10 weeks since I purchased the corvette ZR1. No title. Today I spoke with the finance manager who said he will follow up and call me back later today, nothing back from him. I also spoke with ***** again, she said she will send me an email again with updates. Nothing. I regret doing business with Ron Tonkin Chevrolet of Portland ******.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:I still have not received my Title. I spoke with ****** yesterday and was told that I may not receive my title until 30 days from now, (next year).
This is unacceptable for me, I was hoping to at least have another trip permit provided by the dealership so that I can bring the car to the holiday toy drives / car shows.
I should not be able to NOT drive the car due to a clerical error done by the dealership which resulted in my title being delayed.
Also, if I was not taken for someone that doesn't know how much registration and title fees are supposed to cost, I would of gone through with *** Tonkin registering and titling the vehicle for me.
They attempted to charge me $700+ for title and registration.
For me to be satisfied, I would like another temporary trip permit that does not expire until I receive my title.

June 21, 2023 *********************** provided estimate to replace Driver ***************** that was going bad, $108.00 for Motor and $398.98 for labor total cost $506.88. Also asked if they could replace the Courtesy Light Bulb inside the panel while they had it exposed. Scheduled appointment to leave car on July 5, 2023, *********************** was now the tech I worked with, ***** was going to let me know when Motor was ordered along with time frame. There was no communication after I tried calling leaving messages and texting. July 10, I was told they never started on my car, what was the purpose of scheduling and leaving car with them when I could have used it? Same day I was informed the cost had significantly increased and now there was a broken Door Handle Bolt? Concerned I stopped in wanting to see what Bolt was broken on the Door handle, I could see it was a bolt they had broken and wanted me to pay for it? Also to tell them I agreed to the original cost and no more since it was their contract agreement. The communication with this dealership was terrible as I told them numerous times hoping it would improve. Told on July 20 they received the ************ and repairs would begin soon? Was told ****** was done picked up ****** July 25 and paid them a total of $509.10. I looked at the Camaro to check out the repairs, they had destroyed the Door Panel, the Window Seals on outside completely screwed up with a huge gap maybe 5/8" or more along entire length of the Driver Door Window and loose, the inside window seal twisted and not flush, the cluster of Electrical Switches on inside of door panel was extremely loose, the entire panel didn't set flush against door whatsoever, cover plate over Rear View mirror is now cracked, new Window Tinting was badly damaged, missing the Armrest ***** Covers, they never replaced the Courtesy Bulb, couldn't believe this Dealership damaged everything? I was extremely upset and demanded to speak with their Service Manager "*************************." ******************* me they would try and find another panel and make everything right? Schedule August 7 and left Camaro with them. After few days I tried once again to communicate by leaving voicemails, text messages, no response from them? Finally told they received another Door Panel I went back to them to check it, both original and other Door Panels was sitting next to car. I noticed the original panel appeared like someone used extensive force seeing where the molded clamps had been and comparing to other panel. The Panel they had appeared to be different color and several of the components on the panel wasn't in very good shape and loose, at least the clamps on bottom seemed to be good. I told ************ wasn't very impressed, he tried telling me that I was expecting too much for such an older car? I explained several times they did extensive damage to my car and I expect it to be in same condition it was before they worked on it! I bought Camaro new and it's always set in my Garage under a Car Cover and rarely driven, only on good days. During time they had car I also noticed Coolant on my Garage Floor and asked them to provide me a price for repairing problem, finally they got back to me with cost. I requested to see the parts, never happened? I believe I gave this dealership ample amount of time to take care of the damages they done. October 23, 2023 I tried to get a hold of the General Manager which I met September 11, (*************************) ended up leaving him a voicemail letting him know that if I didn't hear back from *** Tonkin I would be filing complaint with BBB and maybe consider taking this to Small Claims Court, never got a response. Last I am extremely unhappy and dissatisfied with the damages Ron Tonkin Chevrolet did to my Camaro. I will need to find someone else to repair the damages they did, at this point I can't leave the car outside in wet weather or door will fill up with water.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: I just want *** Tonkin to repair/fix all the damages they did to my CamaroThere were lots of untruthful statements with ************************* reply. I was given the first quote and understood that would be the cost, there was no mention about their quote as not being valid verbally or on their Contract? Then 7/10/2023 suddenly the quote was substantially higher which I disagreed and was not going to have them do the work if they couldn't honor their Agreement, also they mentioned the Door Handle had a broken bolt? The following day I went there to check out this new issue, this was a bolt "they" had broken removing the Trim Plate around the Handle, I wasn't going to pay for something they broke! *** Tonkin should have told me then they couldn't do the job I would have left and went elsewhere, I wish they would have if I knew what was going to happen. The outer Door Window Seal/Trim would move slightly as Window went up, the Weather Seal had no issues and was tight against the Window. Can't believe ************************* stating I refused Texting, even though I've had numerous Texts from them, last one was October 9, 2023 from **************************
I did tell them I wanted to talk (on phone) to whomever knowing I might have a better chance of knowing what was happening, that didn't work out since communication was pretty much non-existent with this company. I also told them I loaned my phone to a friend while she was having personal issues; it was on a Friday & Saturday (2 days)? Also expressed that I preferred them calling my home phone, I don't keep the Cell phone next to me while I'm at home and a hard time hearing it ringing.
I'm a Senior Citizen, pretty much a "home body" with Arthritis and Plantar Fasciitis causing lots of pain walking. It causes me lots of pain trying to drive my other vehicle which is a 5 Speed, some days I can't and must ask friends. This whole problem could have been avoided if Ron Tonkin Chevrolet would have refused to work on my Camaro since it's a **** (25 years old) and they wasn't capable of doing the job. My whole complaint is about taking my Camaro to the Dealership expecting to have it done correctly by professionals. Instead they destroyed the Door, caused numerous damages which is the reason for leaving the car with them. They had over 3 months to fix everything and make it right with me "the Customer." Being told they could get the parts because it was too old not available? All they had to do was fix everything "they damaged!" I drove the Camaro to another dealership on *********** within 15 minutes they located several places that had all the Seals. They also knew about *** Tonkin reputation which looking on line they have several complaints.
I knew it was going to cost more but this has been a great car with extremely low mileage, stays in my Garage under a Car Cover, I only drive it in good dry weather unless I'm taking vacation, currently my Camaro has around ****** which is extremely low for an older car, it's been extremely dependable and enjoyable to drive. I left my Camaro with them for over 3 months, it has been extremely frustrating experience, I've been told that I should drill some holes in bottom of the door so the water will drain out of the door? I'm strongly considering taking this to Small Claims Court, shouldn't need to do that, but I'm dealing with a very "Crooked Dealership" When weather gets better I'm going to search for professionals that can fix the problem *** Tonkin created, which is going to cost me more **** money!

This is my second complaint about Ron Tonkin Chevrolet on NE 122nd in Portland, OR. Since my husband and I visited the dealership at the end of July 2023 to inquire about leasing a ***** Bolt or ***** Bolt EUV, we have received several notices in the mail from several different banks. One stated that "our recent loan application that was submitted on your behalf by Ron Tonkin Chevrolet was denied" due to "excessive term requested" (***** Fargo), which we never did. Another one received by ********* was denied because they used four different credit agencies and one of them was fraudulent and a scam that reported our credit scores ******************************************* an attempt to get you to contact them to give them more personal information.And the third was from **** of America, denying our application request for credit (again, which we never did) because they could not verify my husband's information. Probably because we never provided any to the dealership, except for our names. All we did was look at a ***** Bolt EUV. We DID NOT FILL OUT ANY APPLICATIONS FOR CREDIT OR A LOAN. Yet, we continue to receive these notices in the mail denying the applications we never filled out. I would like Ron Tonkin Chevrolet to correct this issue by having any hard inquiries or credit applications removed from both of our credit reports for *********************** and *******************************.Business response

***** service manager had my car for 6 weeks. He said he put it on the scope for 430. I asked him for the codes . He can not provide them ....I got my car back 6 weeks later.. I had it for 1 day to just turn around and bring it back . It's over heating.. ***** did not put it on the computer. It's a scam . If ***** did infect put it on the computer he would have got a code saying my fan don't work. Tonkin has my car I told ***** I need it for work . He said come pick it up ... I want to keep it for a while I cannot give yoy a time frame because I have to diagnose it . Well I thought he skrwady did that's bad businessBusiness response

I have a 2015 ***** Cruze. The check engine light came on a few times.Auto Zone told me it was reading as the *** valve. They said my car didn't have enough miles for the reading to be right. The light went off so I didn't worry about it. Several months later, my car began to have a burning smell when using the heating or cooling. I checked the coolant and it was completely empty, even though the temperature never showed it was hot. I got on the ***** website to check for recalls and sure enough it says, my make and model of car might have a faulty ***. I was told that was the problem because it wouldn't register on the temperature gage that the coolant had leaked out. I've had to keep checking the coolant before driving any where because it doesn't give me any warning it's out. I made an appointment to take it in to *** Tonkin *****. When I arrived they acted like they had no idea why I was there. The guy said for them to look at it, I'd have to leave it there for days. I couldn't. So he scheduled me for the following week. I called before the appointment to find out about a possible loaner car. I was told that they do have them, but I would have to schedule out further because none were available. They said that if I scheduled another week out, one should be available. A week passed. The day of the next appointment, I called to verify the loaner car. They acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. The guy said that the loaner cars were reserved for people with expensive repairs and that he didn't believe they had one for me. He said he'd find out and call me back. No one called me back. I called them again before the appointment time. Again they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. I was told that if one comes available in the future that they would call me. Of course they haven't. Worst customer service. My issue is a faulty ***** part. They have just waisted my time and forced me to continue to drive it with coolant pouring out!Business response

I purchased a vehicle from Ron Tonkin Chevrolet December 29 of 2022. I was told a transfer of title would be done. That paperwork was never processed resulting in me receiving a hefty parking ticket six months later for a car that I had traded into the dealership, trying to follow up to get the parking ticket matter resolved, has been an absolute nightmare along with their sales process. When I called to try to resolve these matters, I am just put on hold and there is never a follow through or proof that they had filed any paperwork for my vehicle. I received temporary plates two months after purchasing my vehicle so I wasnt even able to drive the car that I had bought from them an absolute nightmare and now theyre wanting me to pay the $120 title transfer fee that shouldve been handled on there and six months ago when I initially purchased this car.Business response

/Purchased truck on 9/14. took back for installation of ** accessories and application of paint sealant (cost of sealant $1294). Picked up truck with holes in carpet and the paint sealant applied over bird dropping. Truck taken back and carpet repaired. During this time a warranty issue with a rear door window was handled. During this the service department damaged the paint on the door and the moldings around **************** was taken back again. In speaking to the business manager it was determined that I would be refunded the amount for the paint sealant due to the amount of problems including the need to have my new truck painted. Picked up truck today ands the ** stated that since the truck looked good now that they would not be refunding any money. I aske to speak to the **'s boss with the Tonkin Group and he refused to give me any information and waked away.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: The response given by Tonkin Chevrolet is not entirely correct and not complete. When I purchased the accessory that caused holes in the carpet I should have been told this would happen. I would not have done so knowing that my new truck would have visible holes in the carpet. The loaner vehicle I was given when the repairs to the carpet were done was not only a large gas guzzler, I had to bring in back and exchange for another gas guzzler due to the 1st vehicle needing to be at the dealership for a customer to view for possible purchase. This was large inconvenience on top of the reason for all of this having to travel 19 miles each way and the gas costs. The comments of replacing the window out of kindness, The window shattered due to a defect. Where is was parked was under a security camera and was determined that from the time I parked until I arrived back to the truck nobody was near it. The window simply shattered, a ** defect. While replacing the window, they damaged the paint and the moldings around the window. Now my "new" truck needed to be painted. During this time at the body shop Tonkin was also going to "fix" the Cilijet" that they originally applied over bird droppings damaging the paint of my new truck. I expressed my concern that my new truck will loose value as it has now been painted. The Business Manger and I agreed that Tonkin should and would refund my the cost of the citijet. At time of pick up I was informed by the ** that since the truck was "fixed" that there was "no need" to refund any costs. The Business manager then said that she never agreed to a refund. I told her she was lying. The ** told me to leave the facility and walked away. I did yell to him to stop and give me his boss's contact information. He told me to "look it up" and walked away. I sill needed to get my paperwork and 4 hooks I was promised and so I went to go back into the service area and was surrounded by several sales associates who watch my every move. I did not get the hooks as I was told they were on back order (I do not believe this).The fact that they reimbursed me $50.00 for gas while the truck was in the body shop should be a moot point. First and foremost, I should never have had to be in this situation. They knew of this appointment for over 2 weeks and could and should have had a loaner comparable to my truck. This huge loaner was going to coast far more for me to drive back and forth to work as well as the 19 miles each way form my home to the dealership.
Vehicles lose value very fast, having damaged paint and needing a week in the body shop to repaint and re-apply a ceramic sealant certainly will reduce value. I believed the original deal of the refund of the cilijet cost was very fair (more so for the dealership).
They did me wrong continuously and then lied at the end.
