I struggle to pay my bills every month. As a single full-time working mom. I have called them numerous times to see what programs or payment plans they offer. I have even left messages for call backs to no avail. As I can't even afford the extra $100 to have service reinstated. They claim there's nothing they can do even though it clearly states that they offer payment plans. I was told by a lady that my over $200 delinquent account that was to be shut off the following day didn't meet there criteria. Although there "support" page states differently. And to find out my water meter wasn't working for months that they just replaced not to long ago. They "estimated" my bill. And I was not even told that it wasn't working. They are not friendly and offer nothing as far as help goes compared to other utility companies in the Lehigh Valley.

The Customer Care team at Lehigh County Authority (LCA) strives to deliver exceptional service to our customers. Without specific customer information we are only able to provide a general response. While we do administer a hardship grant and payment plan programs, there are eligibility requirements. As a public nonprofit utility funded by the rates paid by our customers, it is imperative that we administer the guidelines established for our support programs without exceptions. Unfortunately, some customers are not eligible for either program. In that case, we often refer customers to other support programs, such as the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (now closed) or the Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund. On our website we provide information on other local support programs for households in need. (*********************************************************************************************) Regarding the water meter, it is not unusual for LCA to estimate a customer bill when a meter reading is not available. We conduct proofing during our billing process, which helps us identify where there may be meter issues. We notify customers when service may be required due to the meter not producing a proper reading. We invite our customers to contact us when they have questions or issues related to their water or sewer service and we rely on customer feedback to help us improve our service.
