11/24, I went to J&P as a last resort due to my credit score, martial debt, and down pymt *** available. *** took advantage of my desperate situation, and sold me a lemon, a 2010 **** ******, with 1k down, and pymts around 350 a month with my first pymt due 12/19/24. His last statement to me after I signed all the papers, and literally walking out the door was, "Hey, just so you know, the clutch isn't covered" About 2 weeks before my first pymt was due, *** started calling and texting stating that pymt was due immediately, or I would face repossession. Ironically, I started having clutch issues 2 weeks after buying. Reverse went out first, and then 1st a couple days later. I called several mechanics, and they let me know that it was my clutch going bad, and because of the make/model/year, it would cost roughly $1100 to cover labor and parts. Fast forward I ended up sick and hospitalized for a couple days, and pymt was still not due as of yet. When I got out, on my way home, 2nd and 3rd gear stopped working, and I had to pull out in 4th gear. By day 28 of owning the car, I was immobile. None of the gears, and reverse worked. I was on my way to a friends place when this happened, and the car still remains in the same place I broke down 12/17/24. I informed j&p of this, and *** said he didn't care, pay him or get repossessed. I informed him I have until 12/19 to make a pymt, and I was figuring out what to do. I contacted the attorney general, and they stated my car was too old for the lemon law. My choices in this matter was to make pymt(s) on a broke down vehicle, get a loan and fix it, or take a loss and allow repossession. He restated he didn't care, he wants his money, or repossession. So I told him to go get the car because I wasn't paying him. As of 2/1/25 the car is still in the same spot, and undrivable. Only two things will make this right. giving me my money back, and them getting the car. Or them fixing the car, and I make pymts when I get it back.

Even though the customer is still responsible for payment which she has failed to do and I am legally allowed to repossess the vehicle, I will refund her money if she has the car returned to the dealership and signs off of the title.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I am unable to get the car to the dealership until this weekend as I do not have enough money to get it towed right away, unless the dealership when I return it, is able to give me a full or partial cash refund, and then the tow company is willing to work with me on receiving the payment after towing it to the dealership. Or if J&P will tow it themselves for the same price I was quoted by Team Tig Towing located here in town, and they deduct the tow cost from my refund, I can do this transaction immediately.

Whether or not J&P is willing to work with me with this towing situation, I do accept the resolution they offered, once I am able to get the vehicle towed to them.

    Regards,

I spend 1200 down payment on a car from J and P, immediately there was issues. I took it to another shop where they told me the car won't pass inspection. I called J and P and they said that's what I get for buying an older car. I use my car for work, and I lose money by not driving it.

Mr. *********** purchased a 2000 Sebring from our dealership on 5/21/2024.  The vehicle amount down was the down payment for financing through the dealership. Mr.*********** was given at no price to him a 3 month powertrain warranty.  Mr. *********** called the dealership screaming about a dead battery and we told him to bring it in and we would check the vehicle.  He was a no show at the dealership.  We are not going to return money to Mr. ********* and he needs to continue to make a payment each month for the remander of his balance.  I am enclosing all documents including the copy of the warranty and the sales agreement which states our dealership sells the car as is and assumes no expressed or implied warranty.  If you have any questions please feel free to respond via correspondence.  Thank You, Dawn S***********

    Better Business Bureau:

I think it's hilarious how they keep talking about a battery when I've very clearly been talking about a bad muffler that I need to replace for 500$ in order to pass inspection, not a battery. I'm at the point I don't even want to deal with them anymore. They're scammers. But it is illegal to sell someone a car that won't pass inspection without telling then, and that's what they did. Simple as that.

The only complaint we have on record for this customer is the battery.  He never indicated the muffler is bad.  Send me a receipt and photos of the bad muffler or bring it in and we will deal with the problem.  I am still not willing to issue a refund but am willing to work with the customer if I can see proof that the muffler needs or has been repaired.

My experience was terrible. If I could give a negative rating I would. I paid cash for a minivan in March 2023 approx 2 weeks later, after I bought it, it began running badly. I called made an appointment and their mechanic changed the battery and that was it. Two days later, the van would not start, I called J&P Auto and they refused to have it towed and told me that their mechanics only do simple fixes they don't know how to do anything more than your basic battery change out, brakes, tires, oil changes etc. that I would have to have the van towed to a dealership and they would help me out with it. Long story short, the Courtesy Dodge dealership first said it was the wireless control module and that it would need new keys also; then a couple days later the dodge dealership said it was also an titm module which was another $2k but that I should not have to pay for it at all since it wasn't even a full month of me driving it before the problems started and they were going to keep after J&P auto to get the bill paid, they said they would only pay half of the bill prior to the titm module and the dealership has been fighting with J&P since. I called Bud at J&P and he said he did not need to know what I was going through in my life when I explained the hardship this was on me and my family, I even asked if they could take this van back and let me get a different vehicle, he said he would talk to the owner and call me back and I still haven't heard back from him 2 days later. Every time i would call i got the run around and i've asked to speak with the owner to avail. bud even accused me of sabotaging the van he said someone probably put the wrong key in it but they only gave me 2 keys and the one didnt even work at all from day 1.

I was delayed in responding to this complaint because we are currently working with the customer to resolve the issue.  Our company has paid the bill at the dealership, had the car towed to our dealership and we are currently working on the repair to the customers vehicle while providing her with a loaner car at no cost.  I have been in contact with the customer during this process and she seems to be happy with our remedy.  I wish that in the time provided we could have given you a conclusion to the complaint but at this point all I can tell you is that the dealership is working with the customer to fix the problem with the vehicle.  Thank you for your understanding at this time and I will be more than happy to do a follow up to this letter when the repair is completed.

my 2nd transaction with them was June of this year BUD B****** sold me a car a little over 2yrs. ago it spent most of the time in the shop and then i was told that it wouldn't pass inspection because of a rusted or cracked frame so he told me to look on line for another one and he would make it right so i did. I told him that i didn't want anymore payments, and what payments i had left i didn't want to be higher, he said ok but didnt do it. he had me take out another loan for 8000$. he was supposed to pay all but what i owed. He didnt do that and he has me starting over again. I dont understand since he sold me a car with a busted frame.

Ms. ******** purchased a vehicle on October 27, 2021 and applied for financing. She took out a loan on a car she had driven for over 18 months.  She took said car to a mechanic that advised her the frame needed some repairs (not uncommon for a car that is driven in PA winters, the state uses calcium chloride to de-ice now, and this will eat at a frame if you do not rinse the frame during the winter).  She came back to the dealership, and we told her we would help her out.  Not give her a car for free, because this was not our fault, but we felt bad she got freaked out by the mechanic and wouldn't let anyone else look at the car, etc.  When Ms. ******** purchased the 2007 Murano in 2021 it had 87k miles on it.  She paid 8375.00 minus the down payment of 2500.00 so she financed the amount of 5875.00.  Almost 2 years later when she purchased the new car, a 2012 GMC Terrain for the price of 8995.00, we gave her a trade in value of 5177.08 she had to pay tax and state fees, so she ended up financing 4370.00 on our end.  The bank did the payoff for the vehicle that she borrowed 5875.00 and paid 17 payments on.  We never agreed to pay off a loan, but we did give her almost as much as she financed for the trade. I am enclosing a value report from car fax that doesn't even take the repairs needed (that she claimed) it gives her a trade in value of 3050.00 we were more than generous with our trade amount.   She bought a car that was more money than her original and she signed a sales agreement that she was happy with the transaction.  We never forced this vehicle on her, she picked it.  I am not paying off her loan so she can have a car for free.  The car could have been repaired in the first place.  The customer purchased a more expensive car, and we gave her a good trade value.  I am enclosing all documents for your review, and I am always open to answering any further questions that your agency may have.  And in summation, we will not be paying off this customer’s car loan or giving her a free car.  Thank you for your consideration in this matter.  Have a wonderful day.
