I am filing this complaint on behalf of my senior father; of which whom this company took advantage of. *****************************, owner and operator of Klems Construction was hired on 01/01/2022 to do a full remodel of my fathers bathroom. The agreement was an initial down payment, then another payment half way through the project, and final payment installment once the bathroom project was completed. To this date 10/19/23, the project is not complete. *** started the project with an assistant and promised his father (a plumber) would be doing all of the plumbing. He began asking my father almost weekly for more money. My father obliged. I was unaware of this initially. *** would then disappear for days and had so many different excuses. When he would return, he would always tell my father that he owed more money. So my father kept writing checks. I have proof of every written and cashed check. Every time *** returned, he requested more money. Once he got the check, he would disappear each time. It started out being days, then it became weeks, then months without any communication. He took advantage of an elderly man with substantial finances. He also talked my father into replacing his entire roof, a lot more money was exchanged. Roof still not completed. He then talked my father into remodeling his kitchen. My father gave him yet another down payment for the kitchen, yet neither the bathroom or roof projects were finished. My husband and I then got involved and told *** as my fathers POA and at that time, his recent cancer diagnosis, that we would not be moving forward with the kitchen project and requested a refund and requested him to finish the other projects he started. Still no reimbursement, jobs are still incomplete, and *** has not been around for many months now. He owes my father a lot of money, due to all of the extra money my father kept giving him and the reimbursement for the kitchen. He financially exploited a senior.
