  I called the Hotel Veranda (owned by Clarion) about a second charge on my bank statement dated August 29 & 31. The charge was for “incidentals” which was for 2 stained towels. They charged me $111.00. When I complained and asked for a refund, the person hung up on me. I called back and he hung up on me again. My original email: I stayed at the Hotel Veranda in DuBois, PA. The room was adequate, but the rest of the hotel was filthy and unsafe. When I called to book, I pointedly asked if there were pets on the premises as I am violently allergic and have considerable breathing issues. I was assured by the front desk agent that there were and would be no pets on the premises. I arrived on August 26th. The desk agent told me that all amenities were closed due to construction. I had not been informed of it when I called the hotel directly to book. There were stacks of construction materials everywhere. My room was adequate. The bathtub was stained and unacceptable. When I returned late Saturday evening, I noted that there was pet food and animal hair in the side foyer. When I opened the door, I was assaulted with the unmistakable smell of cat urine. I had to take medication immediately. I went to the front desk. The desk agent was talking to two men. I complained about the cat issue. All three employees stared at me blankly and said nothing. The desk agent finally asked the men to check out the smell. I watched them as they walked down the hall and left the area. They checked nothing. I asked that the floors get swept and that something should get sprayed to get rid of the smell. I went to my room. Many floorboards were broken and tiles lifted up as I walked. As a disabled person, it is fortunate that I did not fall. The AC unit in my room was ineffective. I carry a fan when I travel so I was able to spray the entranceway and air out the room so I could sleep. Later, I checked the hallway. Someone had swept the floors but there was still cat hair everywhere.
