    Business response

    03/14/2022

Customer arrived at 3:17 p.m. on March 1, 2022 to mount & balance 4 tires. His truck was immediately pulled in the shop. Our team struggled getting the tires to seat & pop onto the beads due to the customer having a 10" wide wheel & the location of the sensor was in a different position than normal. We used the normal methods of mounting lube, ultra lube, and 2 air cannons to pop the tire onto the bead with no success. We then tried a starting fluid procedure, with no luck also. After trying to help the customer for over an hour and a half, we made a decision to install his original tires back onto the vehicle, and he left at 4:48 p.m.

We at Carman's tire have the latest tire changing equipment and employ trained professional technicians. We strive to handle customers wheels with care and respect. We utilize all the protective add on anti scratch plastic inserts on the bars and also on the duckbill head that touches the inside of the wheel. However, we do not assume any liability for scratches, dings, dents, and TPMS issues to your wheels. Myself and the owner Sam spoke with the customer about this before the vehicle was even pulled into the bay. The wheels were all scratched & 1 center cap was cracked prior to servicing the vehicle. The wheels were not new, only the tires.

The TPMS light was on when pulling in the vehicle, and 1 sensor was rolling around on the inside of the wheel, which the customer knew about. He advised us to remove all the sensors and install rubber valves in place of the sensors. We boxed up all of the old parts as he requested.

The customer left the building at 4:58 p.m.----We did NOT charge the customer for the valve stems or for the time his vehicle was in the shop. Also, he left a nice monetary tip for the technician.

The customer then called Maria on Thursday March 3rd, and said that 2 TPMS sensors and 2 center caps were damaged, and she agreed to order the center caps and have the customer stop in so we can clone 2 new sensors, which he picked up on Friday. If the sensors were damaged as the customer states, we would NOT have been able to clone and program the sensors. He then called back and told her that the dealership said another sensor was bad (that we didn't even touch), and threatened calling his lawyer. At this point we cancelled the order of the center caps, and stopped communication with the customer, and gave our lawyer's name to him. A couple days later, we are responding to this complaint.

    Sincerely,

    Management at Carmans Wholesale Tire
