Bitner Brothers Construction called, offering special holiday pricing. I asked about shower doors. I scheduled a visit for an estimate. They didn't show up. I called to complain. They apologized and offered a follow-up. Mr. Bitner came out and took some time to inspect and measure the enclosure. They sent an estimate and a few door options. The charge: "Our set fee for shower door installations is $1500.00." The "holiday discount" had slipped my mind. We signed the contract & scheduled the install. I gave a $1000.00 deposit. 2 workmen showed up and started reading the instructions (a little alarming) and got ready to start drilling and hammering. One said, "We don't know how to drill through your tile." Mr. Bitner did not prepare the crew. They were told to bring the door and install it, but they didn't want to destroy my house. They did rip the window blinds. They left all the parts obstructing our closet. I called to complain & added that they didn't give me the promised holiday discount. They gave me a $100 discount & vowed to replace our blinds. Bitner rescheduled and came 1/26 - a 4th change to my work schedule. 2 men showed up. An older man said he was the real contractor; the others were just trainees. They started & he called me back to demonstrate how there was no way to install the door - my wall was warped. He said that a specialty glass company would have to cut special glass to install the door. They left - leaving the door and parts where they were. Mr. Bitner had inspected the site & never mentioned the problem After a day of silence, I wrote an email to complain - no response. This morning, they called, apologizing for having sent a Friday email to someone else. They were sending me back my deposit plus $60 to pay for blinds. I reminded them to get the door. They made money off of my deposit, I paid interest on my card, and I wasted personal leave time waiting for them. Don't do business with them without double and triple-checking!

Rabbi Marc, we appreciate the constructive criticism as we tried every aspect possible to make the vision of you having a shower door installed come to life; unfortunately sometimes there are foreseen circumstances that prevent your visions becoming a reality. Our first try to stop out was an uncontrollable snow storm; you kindly rescheduled with us for the following week. Once the blinds were discovered damages we offered to compensate for them right away, as it was attached in an email you demanded a discount along with the holiday special; once this was reviewed Bitner Brothers immediately rewarded you a discount of $100 plus compensation for the blind. We are a growing company that does take on employees to teach. The project manager; said "contractor" was on site to discover the true issue behind the problem. The project manager also made sure to go into thorough detail with you that if a shower door were to be installed that was not a custom cut due to the previous installer of the original tile bathrooms work the shower door would leak every time the shower was to be used. Bitner Brothers Construction did not install the shower door due to the unfortunate fact the price we quoted for given the shower door price and holiday special would not come close to the price of the custom shower door. It would have resulted in our price to change; you made the remark multiple times that you were not goin going to be paying another cent. With that decision being made; Bitner Brothers Construction made the decision to not proceed with the contract further. We than responded in an email (sent to the wrong homeowner; due to human error which we had admitted to and told you we made a mistake and took the blame for being humans) the email stated we were refunding your deposit (that we did not make money off of due to the processing fees we as a company have to pay) as well as the additional $60 for your one blind that you had told us the specific type and we looked at the pricing of it; even though the blinds were currently discounted online we honored the full dollar amount of a blind at regular full price. We left you know we would be sending a check out in the mail that day; as well as making arrangements to pick up the shower door. When asked if we could come that day you left us know you would have to find time in your schedule to let us get the door. Once we set out an email asking days and times; we receive a timeframe of when to pick up the door; we made arrangements to pick it up on the first opportunity you had provided. We apologize again deeply about the outcome of events; and hoped for a better outcome ourselves. We never like to turn homeowners away or leave them anything but fully satisfied and fulfilled with our jobs. At this time as stated we did recommend you to a shower glass company that could make your shower door dreams come to life. Thank you kindly, Bitner Brothers Construction.
