We were visiting family in *********** over 4th of July, and someone gave my dog a rawhide bone, he never had one before. He acted weird instantly. We rescued our dog 3 years ago and he's never been sick at all. 3 am I searched for emergency vets because my dog seemed barely alive. Ocean state was the ONLY vet taking patients due to the holiday. They were 1 hour away, but we had no choice. My husband carried the dog in and out of the car. I was certain my dog got sick from the rawhide so I bought it with us. The vet examined the dog and said he had fluid in his abdomen. We had to pay $2,500 for exrays, bloodwork, oxygen, etc. We left there a few hours later, we got a call saying my dog had stage 4 cancer and needed a "procedure" to see what type of cancer so they can dispense meds, come up with a plan, or the dog may need to be put down. We had to pay $5500. Additional. I explained banks were closed it was a holiday, they told me to apply for care credit, which we did. The procedure done was "inconclusive" as to the type of cancer. We were told our dog had NO MORE than 2 weeks to live. We took our dog out of there. I requested the records and was refused. When I questioned why I couldn't get my records I had just paid alot of money, I was told "everyone that comes here pays alot of money". We made an appointment that Monday at a different vet. They got our records after requesting them a few times, and they couldn't believe what we were told. None of it was true. I am glad to say 6 months later my baby boy has had no issues. We did get a small portion of the money credired back however, we feel we should have gotten an entire refund and an apology for the complete malpractice of this joke of a place.

    Dear *******,
We understand how stressful and confusing your hospital visit was. Your dog presented in shock, with labored breathing. Upon initial evaluation, he was found to have blood in his chest cavity and his red blood cell count was low.He was stabilized with fluids and a blood transfusion, and medications to try to address a possibly bleeding disorder. These things did not occur because of a dog treat. You approved testing to find the cause. You were never told that he had stage 4 cancer but that the findings on the bloodwork, and apparent masses on x-rays and ultrasound were strongly concerning for cancer. You elected to take your dog home without pursuing more aggressive diagnostic tests. The records were released to your regular veterinarian, and you were provided a refund for the testing and treatment that you ended up declining. If he is doing well now, we are so happy for you. All evidence suggested that he had a very serious condition and we can only advise based on the information in front of us. It is very difficult to make the ultrasound findings fit with your dogs good outcome but hope you continue to enjoy your time with him!

Dear Mr. ******* we understand how painful it is to lose a beloved pet, and we are so very sorry for your loss. Your pet was extremely sick, with a life-threatening blood disease that has a high mortality rate and requires aggressive treatment including blood transfusions. The doctor explained the costs that would be involved to try, but expressed serious concerns about her prognosis. Supportive care was started immediately, and once you were able to secure a deposit she was given a transfusion. While this is definitely what she needed, at no time were you told that she was going to do well. She was a critically ill dog, and she succumbed to ************** overnight. We know that the costs of intensive care can be difficult to afford - which is why we always counsel our clients about the likely costs and prognosis so that the right decisions can be made by each family. Given how sick your dog was, there is a very good chance that she would have passed away no matter what you were able to afford. You elected to try everything possible to save your sweet dog, and we are sorry that the outcome was so devastating.Unfortunately, the care she received is expensive to provide. We are evaluating the invoice to see if there was anything charged that was not appropriate, but unfortunately we do need to have you make payment arrangements for the balance.

My dog ***** had a big lump on his leg that two vets recommended I leave alone, they would not touch it because of the location. ***** kept chewing it and making it bleed. My vet recommended I take ***** **** to Ocean State. These people were very kind and helpful. ************* explained all the pros and cons, prices ( which ended up being lower) ,he was very patient and gave us a lot of information so we knew what we were dealing with. We were also told that it could comeback. ***** had the surgery in May of this year 2024, and I am so happy to report that he is doing great, the scar is very light and he is back to normal. As with any surgery like this it may come back someday but if it does I will not hesitate to bring my ***** back because of the caring staff and the wonderful Dr. ****** Thank you all again *****, ******, and *********************

Hi ******, we are so sorry that Toy Toy was euthanized. Toy Toy had been recently treated for a uterus infection with your regular veterinarian, and she was scheduled for a spay when it was discovered that she was newly diabetic and having a complication called diabetic ketoacidosis. Bloodwork additionally, showed a high white blood cell count and elevated liver values. Chest x-rays showed a diffuse chronic airway pattern and was she was referred to **** for further treatment. When Toy Toy was initially referred to **** the doctor discussed that treating Toy Toy would require several days of hospitalization and critical care. The ultimate goal was to have Toy Toy return to a simple diabetic so that you could manage her at home. Based on her bloodwork, ultrasound, and examinations, we had no reason to believe that she would not do well. We also advised that Toy Toy would likely remain diabetic and require daily insulin and follow up with her veterinarian. Toy Toy was very sick when she was admitted. Her treatment included fluid and insulin therapy. Once she was eating fairly well, she was started on long-acting insulin. Based on her progress, it seemed reasonable to give her some time at home to see how she would do. You were provided very detailed instructions on how to care for her.We understand that you were very apprehensive about caring for Toy Toy at home.We recommended urine testing, and follow-up with your regular vet. It is unclear whether you were able to successfully give Toy Toy her treatments at home, and whether that *** have contributed to her decline. Toy Toys illness was one that we manage all the time. Most patients are able to be transitioned to at-home care and managed successfully long-term with their diabetes. Toy Toy *** have had a more difficult condition to treat, but there was no indication during her stay that she was going to do poorly. Had we thought her prognosis was poor, we would have shared that information with you so that you could make the right decision for you. The doctors were honest about the costs, and what would be entailed in care, and thought they were doing right by you and Toy Toy. It saddens us that we did not earn your trust in your most recent hospital experience. We do hope you know how much we cared about Toy Toy and her wellbeing

They pretty much euthanized my cat who needed antibiotics, they authorized a lethal respiratory restricting injection without my consent, outside of the contractual registration requirements, killed him extracted the milk-like fluid from his lungs and ran off with it in a cup and said, Sorry for your loss. Apparently they've been doing this for years unbeknownst to me. This seems to he thee chop shop for animals that flies under the radar. The woman confirmed that they " credited" me for unauthorized tests and injections, so because this has happened to so many of you, please contact the kent county court house superior court about a lawsuit against them to have them removed, and make sure to keep track of all the staff members before hand so when they run off to do it again they can be easily pinpointed. Now i have another cat crying for his brother who was needlessly killed. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT EVER bring your beloved animal companion to these thieves and so called veterinarians, unless you want to pay an exorbitant fee for a dead pet. I was horrified to come back from work to find ****** diarrhea all over my kitchen floor where I had gated my 8 year old Lhasa Apso for her safety. She had no prior symptoms for what I suspected was an acute onset of colitis which is treatable. When I brought her to this horror show of a facility we were kept waiting for hours. I was told they would do a 'procedure'. I asked them to define 'procedure' and was informed it would be a 'scoping procedure.' That does not mean anything. I was then told the results were 'scary'. That is NOT a medical diagnosis. My dog bled to death right there and then. To add insult to injury, I was charged an outrageous fee which they were so eager to grab. STAY AWAY! Take you beloved pet to ********************************** in ******, ** or ***** in Grafton, ** or *************** Specialists in Walpole, **. Despite the longer drive, your animal companion will receive top notch care by a team of specialists and compassionate, ************ and you will go home with a healthy pet not a deceased one.

Horrible my dog had a blockage surgery. Two days later she came home driving home. We had to roll the windows down because she smelled so bad. She was covered in diarrhea number one all down her back of her legs everywhere on her back end her a*** was in flamed. We were told she wasnt eating. She went right for her bowl. As soon as we walked in the house then we realized on Tuesday the next day the smell wasnt the p*** all over her. It was a raging infection in her incision area so Wednesday morning after she is declining on Tuesday we call them get a call back after five to bring her back mind you weve already paid $9000, so we bring her back they say she must have licked herself and caused an infection irritated. I explained that we had to drive in the freezing cold with the windows down because the stink was so bad on the way home. We live an hour away they argued with me and said that she needed more surgery. Keep in mind. They already charged my credit card for the surgery, which I did not realize so we left her there reluctantly Wednesday night Was told that she was getting worse picked her up on Thursday because we were not going to do the surgery. They gave us surgery option one two and then three take her home and do wound care and clean the diarrhea off of her. And we chose to bring her home because of the unsanitary conditions at the hospital in one of the waiting rooms there was a ****** gauze there from Friday to Friday on the floor. The bathrooms for people are disgusting and the rooms that you have to sit and visit with your dog have diarrhea on the floor on the edges where I set my purse down three days in a row Whos cleaning this place are they blind? This is why my dog came home with an infection. They are shortstaffed and got really agitated with us when we were removing her from their their care because they are incompetent -Made us sign a release that they were not responsible for what they did and refused to release our dog till signed

I personally think this place should be shut right down. My son and his Fience brought there dog there that was 13 years old and on her last leg ...I mean there was no saving her at all. These cruel and evil people kept saying that she had a chance to live and rackef up a ******************* for this young couple just starting there lives together. She had cancerous tumors in several places, wasn't eating or drinking and beyond weak. I personally couldn't believe my eyes when my son sent me a picture of her ..it brought tears to my eyes. I personally don't know how people sleep at night knowing how disgusting and sickening it is to only care about money and keep dying dog alive suffering for another week to line your pockets.

I'm literally sick to my stomach. My dog ****** collapsed on Saturday morning at 3:15am I was up getting water n as always he would follow me. When he got up to follow me is when he collapsed. He wasn't really moving n was breathing weird. I immediately called Ocean state they said bring him in. We got there and ****** jumped up n started running around like he was fine. I was confused and was like well I'm here I'll have him looked at. They took him in back and not even 5 minutes later came out n said to come in room. The doctor came in n said ****** had fluid around his heart we had 2 options. 1 drain it n do test n he probably had cancer it would cost $2000 and he would probably not make it more than a couple days n cause of his age 9 1/2 years 2. it would be best to put him down. Me not knowing anything I took the doctors advice as ******* family lost it. I called my ************** to come n say there goodbyes. The vet came in like 3-4 times in a 20 minute window asking if we was done as my family hadn't even got there yet to say goodbye to our ******. After she told us our ultimatums she stood there I said can I have some time to talk it over with my son she said what like 3 minutes. Smh the girl at desk was amazing n loving the doctor was awful. After reading these reviews I'm sick. She's done this to everyone. My dog probably wasn't even sick. Worst place ever. My London was fine never sick literally don't get it. Still charged me $500. They r animal killers

Heartless and incompetent! This is an emergency hospital that doesn't answer the phone for extended periods. If you don't agree to an extended hospital stay for exorbitant fees they will pressure you to euthanize your pet even when your pet is walking, eating, drinking and toileting normally. I brought my dog in because he had a seizure from which he recovered quickly. I was pressured and bullied to euthanize my dog which was botched causing him to suffer and causing me to become injured. The craziest night I have ever had. Then I was charged for euthanasia that I didn't want and was unnecessary since my dog had recovered from his seizure and was ready to come home. Vet didn't want to be wrong and was insistent I euthanize because she thought I was a selfish pet owner keeping my dog alive with diabetes and a potential cancer diagnosis. My dogs primary care and specialty vets did not agree my dog needed euthanasia after the fact. I was pressured and guilted into euthanasia because this vet was trying to prove she was right, then her equipment failed during the euthanasia procedure creating a terrifying scene where the vet had to physically push me out of the way (since i was holding my dog on the floor trying to comfort him during the euthanasia) so she could manually (finish the job) after her extension hose failed and broke apart while my dog lay on the floor seizing and gasping for breath. Totally horrific night. My poor dog was so scared, it's been over 2 years since this happened and I am still haunted by it. I felt so pressured and was repeatedly told I was causing him suffering but he was still a happy dog and wasn't ready to go. He just wanted to go home. We could have euthanized him at home in the future if it became in his best interest. I am not sure of the mindset of a vet who thinks she knows everything about an animal and their owner in a very short time that she could make the determination she made and the level of disrespect was startling!
