Dear BBB, I am filing a complaint against Emergency MD at **** * ************ *** *********** ** *****, regarding overpayment, unfulfilled services, and an unresolved refund. On February 13th, I visited Emergency MD for a medical consultation. An x-ray was taken, but I was never given the results or any follow-up. Additionally, a prescription that was supposed to be sent to my pharmacy was never sent. Despite these issues, I was overcharged for the visit. Since March, I have contacted Emergency MD numerous times about a refund. On May 2nd, I was informed that a refund check had been sent on March 29th. However, the check was sent to the wrong address because no one confirmed my address before sending it. As a result, I never received the refund. When I requested a new check, I was told I would have to pay an additional $50 fee. This is unacceptable given that I never received the services billed to my insurance, never received my prescribed medications, and have been trying to get a refund for four months. I am seeking the following resolution: 1. A full refund of the overcharged amount without any additional fees. 2. Written confirmation of the refund being processed and sent to the correct address. 3. An apology for the inconvenience and lack of service provided. I hope the BBB can assist in resolving this??

EmergencyMD denies the timeline of the event and notes that patients and/or guarantors are responsible for assuring their addresses and contact information are correct. In fact, this information, along with all the lab results and imaging, is available and correctable on the patient portal through self guided access. Additionally, the mail would have been forwarded had she entered a forwarding address. We are sorry the patient is disappointed, but she has been offered multiple options, including picking up her refund check. Please have her let us know how she wishes to proceed.

Went to Emergency MD on 06/10/22 based on their website indicating they provided ultrasound services. After an hour wait, was taken back to examination room and the PA too my blood pressure and asked what the issue was. Explained I was here for an ultrasound believing I may have a blood clot in my leg. PA immediately apologized indicating their website was incorrect and they do not have ultrasound capabilities. PA claimed she has repeatedly requested they correct their website but has not yet happened. PA again apologized and stated there would be no charges as the website provided incorrect information regarding their service capabilities. PA further indicated that their intake system was down and hence we were never “in their system” and hence no charges would be filed. Subsequently Emergency MD filed charges with **** ***** **** ****** for $185. **** paid $130 and I in turn received an invoice for $50. Have attempted repeatedly to resolve this issue with Emergency MD and they have been nothing but rude and less than helpful. On 09/20/22 I arranged a three way conference call with **** and Emergency MD. Their office manage claims their PA did not have the authority to state repeatedly their would be no charges filed and they would not amend the filing with ****.

EmergencyMD denies the facts as they are alleged and has conducted a full investigation of the matter. The physician assistant denies making such statements and she would not be empowered to do so regardless. Further we have received threats from the customer and will no longer engage in a dialogue. The patient is aware they had a copay for their visit and it cannot be waived under the terms of their insurance contract. The patient was not charged for an ultrasound. Any further concerns should be directed to the ***** *** ****.
