Leased here for 2 years. When I moved in the walls were dirty, clearly needed painting, and the ceiling was dusty. The building itself leaked water every time it rained above the door creating a large puddle of water and that wasn't even from pouring rain. Water spots on the walls and ceiling when I moved in. The door was uneven. You could literally see light coming in the front door. Could not open the windows. No screens. Apartment constantly smelled musty even with a dehumidifier. Maintenance an absolute joke. Did not have heat for a month in the winter waiting for a part to come in when it was 30 degrees outside. I complained about the leaking wall and ceiling that was running into a light switch and was told that *** **** Contracting had been trying to call me and I never had any calls or voice-mails from them. Their response to me saying they must have given the wrong number is you call them. They will take you for all your security deposit for removing trash that the city would get rid of for free. Excuse was it wasn't put out on trash day. Was I supposed to live off of a floor for four days so the city could take my trash to not be charged $236? Supposedly they would be fined. When I moved in a headboard sat outside the apartment for weeks from the previous tenants who moved across the street. So if you lease with them just move your trash to someone else's area so you won't be charged absurd amounts of money. Waiting for their cleaning fee when I did not leave the apartment dirty at all. They should be deep cleaning regardless after someone has lived there more than a year. I'm sure they have someone contracted and will upcharge. Slumlords of Charleston. Scammers. And this apartment was on East side which is the worst part of downtown. Trash stays all over this entire neighborhood. Their new rent is ridiculous considering neighborhood and the issues with this place. The house should be condemned. I feel physically better not living there.

Response to review from Hannah T**** for * ******* Court Unit *

We performed the move out evaluation of * ******* Court Unit *, Charleston SC 29403 on the tenants lease end date of 03/31/2022. At this time we found the following issues which are a violation of the lease and therefore constitute in the deduction of the security deposit. The following issues were found:

Items to include, mattress and box spring left outside of the unit on the sidewalk. This is a direct violation of the lease per section 20, I. (Please find photos attached)
Multiple areas of the unit were not clean to include, Ceiling fans, Light fixtures and kitchen appliances. This is a direct violation of the lease per section 22. (Please find photos attached)

In addition, all items that were being deducted from their security deposit were communicated to the tenant via email on April 8, 2022. (Please find attached)

In contrary to the statements made in the complaint. The unit was professionally cleaned prior to this tenant taking occupancy (See attached invoice dated 04/01/2020). Thank you.
