I would like to start off by saying that I was introduced to Scruggs mobile home transport by a friend that had their mobile home moved by this company years prior. When I reached out to this company I asked for a quote and they told me that for a double wide it would be between $5000-$5500 but that they would send Jason S****** out to check the current spot the mobile home resides and where it was going. Jason did come and do the actual quote and quoted me $6000-6500 which was fine we just needed it moved. During that conversation that took place on 7/17/2022 he started that he would try to have it moved by august 8th but that it usually was about a 4 week wait because they were going on a week long vacation but that if he did not have it moved by that date he would have it moved when he got back 8/14/2022 which would have been the 4 week mark. I purchased my permit to have it moved 7/19/22 and turned it in the next day 7/20/22 to their Easley address. When the week of 8/14/22 come up I started to call them to see if I could get a date for when the mobile home could be moved. I was told that because of the rain and weather their schedule had been pushed back but that they had me on the schedule to be started in the following week when that week passed I called again and I was told that they were still behind but finishing up the last one they were behind on and I would be next the following week. I called this business for about 2 weeks and left voicemails and did not get a returned call. After they started to answer it I was transferred to different people to see when my mobile home could be moved with never a clear answer . Just last week I called to find out now that the weather has been nice for a while now when my mobile home could be moved and they said they had a death in the family. While I understand things happen I should not have ,had to reach out to this company as much as I have for an update. -more to add but have no room

Miss **** home was supposed to be moved but she failed to pay our required $300.00 deposit, so she was never able to be put on the list to be moved. The deposit was required, and she was told that, and she never made any effort to bring the deposit by our office. We are very sorry she felt like she had to come to the BBB, but she has to understand we have requirements on our end to. We as of 9/29/2022 have never started to move this home our crew has not been sent out there.

Gave him 2500 beginning of April. Moved it a quarter of a mile this whole summer. I’ve been homeless and without indoor plumbing. With four dogs. And unable to see my kids. Cause they don’t wanna do homeless. I am pooping outside. In the ground. And I’m legally disabled with Crohn’s disease. And he collected 7,000 from me and doesn’t want to give me back but 2500 more for breaking two axles and slamming my home in a ditch breaking the tongue. I signed off on all trailer damage. Not even what I’m mad about. I’ve been homeless. Every weld was fixed within hours. He left. He overcharged and won’t return my money. had to hire another mover. Who was ok with all welds I had completed. Paid him 4500. I’m not looking to make any money. I just wanna get moved. And not be homeless.

I needed a mobile home moved within a certain timeframe. I got in touch with this company almost 2 months before the date it needed to be moved . They promised they’d have it moved by that date even took a deposit to put me on the schedule. They ended up not moving it or doing anything they promised but won’t give the deposit back . They never got in touch with me about giving me a date . So I have been trying to get In touch with them about refunding my deposit with no luck of them acknowledging me

Here at Scruggs we require a $300 non-refundable deposit to start your process of moving your home. This deposit covers us filling out your permit papers, you pulling a permit in our license number and also covers a deposit that comes off the total amount when we move it. The $300 is also required due to the fact there are so many bootleggers out here in the business world the deposit is good faith. If you look at the receipt also it says non-refundable. When these costumers came in it is a policy that we tell everyone that our time spand is about 2-2 1/2 weeks with good weather. During there process weather effected us very bad. With weather our schedule is effect very much to where some days we are not able to work. We most certainly did try to call them, I do Understand there frustration it frustrates us when we have a costumer unhappy. We make no promises here at Scruggs the only thing we say is we will try our hardest. I have a text of her asking for the refund do to her just needing it.  We have policies here and I am very sorry she feels this way.

    Thank you.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.

    Regards,

    ***** ******

i am rejecting it bc I need any money I have put out to them bc I have nowhere to live and need to put whatever money I can to finding me and my kids a place to live . I work everyday but it’s still not enough and I don’t  feel they should keep money knowing some people live paycheck  to paycheck and then keeping it takes Away from my kids having  a home . I feel paying them was just free money when I’m struggling
