Our daughter ***,7, attended what was advertised as a week long beginner horse day camp 8am-12 July 11-15/2022 including activities and lessons. We paid for the full week $500 via Venmo requested by the business;they only accepted cash check Or venmo. When I went to pick my daughter up at 11:30 I was early and waited in the parking lot adjacent to the stables. I was sitting in my car when my daughter ran towards the car screaming crying tears running down her face yelling to open the door and to take her home. She showed me her hands they were red raw and blistered from the reins she said she had a horse that pulled and her hands were on fire raw. I asked her what happened she said she would tell me In the car that she was scared and had the worst time and wanted to go home. Stunned I had no idea what was happening I then looked for the owner. The owner didn’t even look me in the eye when I asked her why *** was crying; she didn’t even get up off her seat. Instead she yelled over me at *** who was standing at the far end of the stable where I asked her to wait for me that she WASNT ALLOWED TO Leave until she cleaned her horse and put away her saddle!! my daughter is hysterical in tears at this point and the owner sees this and does nothing. I asked her to speak to me privately and she told me the day was tough that she put a lot on the kids and that the horses werent behaving and that didn’t help. There were 2 adults there. When we got home *** told my husband and I she was scared all day; that nobody was helping her; she was riding in the ring all by herself nobody at her side (she has ridden a horse less than 10 times she is 7) that she was called a sack of potatoes repeatedly and yelled instructions by ****** from afar that she didn't understand. ****** hit the horse *** was riding b/c it wasnt behaving. we called ****** to discuss *** not returning and a refund for the $400 remainder she would not return our calls. She sent an email that she would not refund us.
