The Side Deck staff at the Yugioh Championship Series event in Indianapolis failed to properly inform entrants into the Speed Duel Constructed event of the event's start. All other entrants I spoke to had no idea the event had supposedly begun, and after I wrote an email to the company lamenting this they responded with information directly contradicting what I was told in person at the time. I was told by the judge who was supposed to run the event that all participants were no shows. This combined with the timeframe this email presents leaves me with even more disbelief about the company's dishonesty. They say they announced the event to begin over the PA at 3:01pm, and blame distance for why I and others did not hear it despite us being positioned quite close to the sound system. This time is also suspect as though I do not remember the exact time which I went to ask about the event's status I know it was before 3:50pm as a separate event announcement was made after this little fiasco. Likely I went up to the table around 3:30pm. The Late to arrive rules for the event which the company are meant to follow perscribe a 10 minute wait before a game can be considered null, so to go through even 2 rounds of no shows (the event is meant to be 3 rounds total) then it would take at least 20 minutes in that case, then the average game can take upwards of 20 minutes it self, so the event should have taken arouns 40ish minutes if it had 3 participants as their response expects me to believe. I should have seen the event still going on instead of it clearly having been over for some time. I also encountered none of these people at the more populated event running the same format of play in which more players were under the assumption the event was never fired. Overall, I think the Side Deck failed to properly announce the event to the majority of participants and are not taking responsibility for their failures in communication, along with being generally deceptive.

    Hello,

The Side Deck, LLC is not governed by the Better Business Bureau. The Side Deck does not employ the judges to whom you cast the blame for missing your event. Judges are staffed by KONAMI, we only handle registration and the labor for prizing. Your complaint would need to be directed to the judges employed by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. in Hawthorne, CA. We have documentation and a signature from the winner of the event that they indeed participated.
