I had a friend drop off a chainsaw at bobs small engine repair . He asked them to check it out and that gas was leaking . I call the business 3 times and asked them to not do anything without a call to discuss plan . I did not want to put a lot of money into an older chainsaw . It took 6 weeks to even look at it , I told them it leaked gas or oil? On the 6 th week the guy promised me he would look at that . The chainsaw started with no issues , but it leaked oil . The man called me later and said good news he fixed it and that would be 150 dollars . I told him I was upset I never got a phone call and the chainsaw was not even fixed , still needed leak fixed. He told me the best he could do would be 100 and then I put my husband on the phone . He was called a liar and my husband said you fixed something that wasn’t broke and you didn’t repair the broken oil chamber . First time using this place and will not be back !

hello, yes i would like to tell you the other side of the story, like you said, there are 2 sides to most storys...we have been in business over 30 years and we are loved by many, we are here to help people....this mans friend or nabor, brought this saw into my shop, and i myself wrote it up...and i wrote down what he told me to do, he did not ask for a estimate or anything, all he said was check it over, and thats it....this was an older saw that they dont even make any more, but they are worth fixing....it was here 6 weeks or so, true, but understand we are 6 to 8 weeks behind here.....anyway, i took the saw back myself and worked on it, it had fire and compression so it was worth fixing...remember the owner did not bring this saw in himself, he sent someone else with it...and all he told me to do is check it out...so after checking a few things i rebuilt the carburator and fix it, replaced all bad fuel lines and spark plug...looked into chain oil tank before i started it and seen that it had no oil in it...i put oil in the tank for the chain bar so it could oil, after sitting the saw up right, it started leaking oil out bad, so i turned it over and looked into oil tank with a flash light and seen that oil tank had a big cut into it,...nothing i could do. but i did try to fix it but after trying, i was un able to fix it...parts for this saw are not avaliable anymore...i called them, and yes i told them i had good news that i fixed there saw and got it running but that there oil tank was busted and i tried to fix it but couldnt...i told them they owned me $123.41 but that i would take $100.00 i was trying to help them...but he got on the phone and started yelling at me and i told him that the person that dropped it off did not tell me to call with an estimate because if they had, i would have wrote that on the work order...after him getting me upset, i said why didnt you bring this saw in yourself? so you could have told me to give you an estimate....we are here to help people, not rip anyone off and we have a great reputation for over 30 years....i hate this happened but he should have took time to bring it in himself...he still owes me 100.00 for what i did....***** ******  (Owner)

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: Hello, after reading the response to our complaint I see that more information is needed so here go’s.   We went to use our saw several weeks ago. It cranked and ran fine. However when we added bar oil it leaked everywhere.  We took it to a neighborhood mechanic (*****). ***** called us about a week later explaining that he was very ill. He told us that he had a dr’s appointment in Athens and asked if he could drop it off at Bob’s shop.  We said that would be fine.  Now understand that we have no idea what ***** told them. A couple of days later my wife **** called Bob’s and let them know that ***** had dropped the saw off for us and that it was leaking oil everywhere. They explained how busy they were and that it would be a few weeks before they could get around to it. She said no problem just call us with an estimate whenever they could.  Several weeks later, my wife called to check on it and the man was very nice about it and told her that he was going to look at it that day, and call her back around noon.  After receiving no return call my wife called him back that afternoon.  The man told her that he had good news and bad news. He said that he had got it running, but then added bar oil and discovered the oil leak.  He explained that the oil tank was no longer available but that he could get one off **** and that we already owed $123.00 and that the finished repair would be about $200.00 .  The saw was $125.00 way back when it was new.  When she asked why he proceeded with costly repairs before calling  us he became agitated and said that nothing was written on the ticket.  We do not dispute what was on the ticket. But they had been advised to call us by phone and apparently no one wrote it down. When I told him that it was already running, and that the leak was why it was there. He went off on me and asked me if I could fix it why did I bring it to him.  I tried to explain all this information to him, but he yelled that he was done with me and for me to come to his face!  Then he hung up.  Bottom line is this,  we do not dispute that nothing was written on the ticket. We did ask them weeks ago to call before repairing.  Maybe they were busy and didn’t write it down.  Defiantly a break down in communication.  They can not claim that at any time we told them to just do whatever and then call .  That is not the way business is done!  Maybe someone has tried to defraud them in the past , but not us!  Because of the breakdown in their communication I would pay still pay $150. For a fixed saw!  I can understand that sometimes people get busy and things slip.  I thought that is was the law to call with an estimate!  Now I’m totally without a saw.  Now the whole truth is out.   Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    **** *****

I am rejecting this response because:
No one said that his first response was not true!  It just left out the critical detail about my first call as explained in our response.  He told us that nothing was ever written on the ticket.  He was probably busy when we called the first time (weeks ago) and failed to stop everything to write it down.  We never implied that he ever lied. However that is what he is doing to us when he says that no one ever told him to please call with an estimate.  We also have a witness to me saying that. Please note that they never once called us!  We had to call them every time.   He knows that he said that he would call back.  No one else does repairs without calling the owner first!  We are obviously waisting our time!! No one, I repeat no one repairs without consent.  He knows that!! And he also knows that he failed to call us.  He can keep the saw !!  What goes around comes around!!
    Sincerely,

    **** *****
