My optometrist made an appointment with Southeast Eye Specialists in April for cataract surgery. I asked why he sent me to them as they had bad reviews. He said his patients never had a problem. The SE optometrist did an exam and said he couldn't give me the multi-focus lens I wanted because "my glaucoma was too bad for the surgery and my eyes were football shaped, not basketball shaped." I didn't have glaucoma! I waited to post this review until I had an ophthalmologist give me another opinion. The ophthalmologist said my eyes were healthy and I was a good candidate for multi-focus surgery. I had the surgery and had the post-op visit yesterday. I have 20/20 vision both near and far. Always get a 2nd opinion. Read the $17M award against Southeast Eye in the Channel 9 article.

I am a 71 year old male patient of South East Eye Specialist of Tennessee. My initial appointment for evaluation was 7-14-22. Prior to services being rendered I was asked for my co-pay of $35, which I paid then and there to the receptionist. On 8-20-22 I received a bill for $35 approximately 36 days later stating that the payment was due now and it was my responsibility to pay. I have been informed that some institutions are double billing Senior Citizens (hoping they will forget and make a second payment). Once the pay twice it very difficult to get the refund. I certainly hope that this is not the case with this business as I noticed that they are not BBB Accredited, therefore I want others to be aware of my experience with their billing department. I have not had my eye surgery as of yet and wonder if the business will bill me twice again when the co-pay is also due up front. Thanks, H. D.
