I purchased a garbage truck from Don ******************** trucks that I saw on internet on April 7,2023. There ad said committed to providing the best customer service to anyone looking for a **********************. I spoke with ************************* & was told the truck was old but everything was in working order (tires, brakes lights PTO levers etc) ************************* text me & said someone was looking at truck. I went to bank & took a loan for $16,000.00 for shipping & truck. When it got here it was shipped from Tenn to ******* state line with garbage (hazardous??) still in truck. I called ***** and he knew they could not unload truck I was told his boss said for me to fix it myself.. I was treated unfair & given false information. I have tried to call for help from ********************s and then I E-mailed pictures of broke ****************************** in it to ********************* governors office (*****************************) called ********************s & spoke with salesman and they said they knew trash was in truck and we might work something out for both parties. I called ********************s on 3-14-24 and spoke with ********************* and he transfered me to Don ******************** (Deceased) I found out it was his son Skip ******************** knowing nothing about sale of truck saying I could pay to ship truck back and they would fix it and I couldn't even get along with *****.Business response

Complaint: 21458161
I am rejecting this response because: Don Baskin Truck sales is very untruthful and unfair with this sale. The complaint filed was to Commerce & Insurance not the Attorney General and was in neither parties favor. It was closed because ********************s did not want to find a resolution for both parties involved. The ******************** told me i should file a complaint with BBB, I needed this truck for my small business now stalling my income because it can not be used for Tenn Trash in truck just sitting. I paid to have it shipped to *******. I was not rude to Skip ******************** - I was in professional & Business and nervous talking fast to get some kind of help from him to no avail Skip said Don ******************** passed away. I offered my condolanlce. This is not an issue with the truck, Its the fact that he stated any issue with the unit it was the fact that truck being full of Tenn garbage and transferred across state line. (Is that lawful??) Please tell me what ******************** offered to help as he states in his letter to begin with ? I did not demand anything but did want help with this issue. I paid $16,000.00 for truck with trash in i$10,000 for truck $4,000,for shipping (tag title etc) Skip keeps saying "As is" but is garbage a part of this .They were untruthful and knew truck was full of garbage when shipped and just wanted to get rid of truck. After reading reviews about ********************Trucks there should be a way for this not to happen to buyer and they should be responsible for their actions
Sincerely,

Asked salesman to come look at it he did asked me to take back road to shop. I did had to stop several times. When I got back salesman hopped in it didnt see him for the remainder of time (1 hr) walked through found the shop and my truck and 4 mechanics looking at it. Lead mechanic said he would put remain in it shouldnt take a week or two. 7/28/23 text salesman any luck he said he would call. Never did but did text back that they were working on it 8/4/23 text salesman never answered called him he said they were still working on it. 8/7/23 called same thing 8/14/23 called told him if the truck wasnt done that I was. He said he would talk to *** and give me a call directly back. Never did. 8/15/23 text the salesman that I never heard back from him on 8/14/23 and that it was stated clear that I wanted money back if it was done Bc I can not afford to play there games. He said the the parts are here and that they are working on it now. And thats what I was told 3 weeks in a row and remaining. They have cost me ****** for a **** Sterling truck (J400**)and the insurance for a year and the last 3weeks 5 days of no pay for the use of truck at ***** a week. I believe this buisness has multiple complaints on them with BBB and they need to be shut down. Messing with peoples livelihood is unacceptable and unethical. I have also find a complaint with the consumer complaint department.Business response

*********************** purchased a **** **************** from Don Baskin Truck Sales, LLC on 07/15/2023. ************** physically came to the lot and inspected the truck. He went on a test drive with the owner and seemed more than satisfied with the truck he had picked out. He wrote a check for $19,500 to purchase the unit he picked out. We allow offsite inspectors and mechanics to accompany potential buyers so that they are confident with the purchase they made. ************** chose to inspect the unit himself and he was happy enough with the condition of the unit that he signed all of our sales agreements in person. It was stated multiple times there was NO WARRANTY and the units are AS IS. ************* came to pick the truck up, and he called us after he made it a little ways away stating he had a transmission leak. We had him bring the truck back to us, so we could help him out. Even though the truck was purchased AS IS with NO WARRANTY we put in a transmission for him which would typically cost $7,500.00 at our shop. We did this at no cost to the customer, and once the *********************** repair was complete, ************** came back to get the truck. When he picked the truck up he spoke to *****(his salesman) and Skip(the owner) and he seemed happy and satisfied with the work that was done. We thought he was a satisfied customer until we received the complaint. The complaint was submitted before ************** picked the unit back up, and after speaking to him, his concerns with not being responded to in a timely fashion were also addressed. We consider this complaint resolved, seeing as ************** has taken the truck and seems pleased with the unit.Initial Complaint

I purchased a truck from Baskin and every question I asked they lied to me about such as does the truck have blow by? They Intentionally put a hose clamp on the dipstick to hide the blow by. Also asked if it had and leaks and they claimed no leaks but wasnt the case at all. It was pouring oil out because of the blow by and pouring out water through the water pump. The guy was a jerk and called me names and hung up on me when I confronted them. Nobody should do business with them. Im filing a lawsuit on themBusiness response

****************** Trucking purchased a **** Sterling LT9500 from our dealership on 04/24/2023. He went back and forth with his salesman through multiple texts and phone calls before deciding to purchase the truck. We allow offsite mechanics/inspectors to come to our lot and check out the units on behalf of the customer. ******************** was purchasing a used truck that was almost 20 years old sight unseen. He had every opportunity to have someone come inspect the unit to make sure it was up to his standards. We are very upfront that every unit we sell is AS IS/NO WARRANTY. They are used trucks, and we can't predict the future, but we always try to be upfront about everything we come across. We sell our trucks cheaper than anyone else for a reason, because they are sold AS IS. ******************** reached out to his salesman to discuss his purchase after the truck was delivered, and immediately started threatening him with lawsuits and retribution. One of his exact messages read "Your time is coming." We advised our salesman to stop all contact based on ********************** threats. We were fully prepared to turn everything over to our attorney, but we have yet to hear from ******************** in that regard since then. We do not condone any type of negativity from our sales staff, and we have handled the complaint about the rude remarks internally. If ******************** would like to speak to the owner about this matter without threatening our employees, he is welcome to give us a call.Customer response

I bought a dump truck from *** Baskins that was supposed to be ready to work. I didnt even make it 50 miles before the u joints on the drive shaft came apart. After this was fixed on my dollar I made it to ********* and the fuel pump went out. I replaced the fuel pump on the side of the road. I made it home finally after a nightmare trip and found the leveling valve on the rear to be tied together with electrical wires. As if this wasnt enough I put new batteries in it and drove it around the block to check everything and the turbo blew. I have made contact with the company multiple times and they dont care. They have no desire to help a customer the handed the $46,000 in cash. The owner Skip is very rude and disrespectful. They do everything they can to cover up any problems the trucks might have just to sell them. They were supposed to change the starter they messed up and all they did was put another piece of junk on it and didnt even put all the bolts in it. This place has no business selling trucks like this. When the drive shaft u joints came apart I was trying to merge on the interstate and almost got killed by another truck because I was a setting duck. I hope someone puts this place out of business before him and his mechanics get someone killed.Business response

This customer purchased two *********************** from us. One on 05/16/2023 and one on 05/17/2023. The customer came with a group, and they searched the lot for two trucks they wanted to purchase. They inspected and chose the two units they purchased. They purchased a **** **** for $28,000.00 and they purchased a **** International for $28,500.00. Both of these trucks are well over 20 years old. They had every opportunity to hire a mechanic to come inspect, but they chose to inspect the units themselves. We sell every unit AS IS/NO WARRANTY and we are very upfront about this. They sign multiple sales docs that state they are aware they are purchasing the unit AS IS/NO WARRANTY. We even offered to pay for a hotel for one of the driver's so he could take the truck the next day. We never claim our trucks are DOT inspected or certified, but we do allow the customer to hire inspectors and mechanics to come to our lot to check the trucks out. I am not sure where the comment about the $46,000 cash is coming from nor am I sure on which truck they are referring to with this complaint. We did not deliver these units. They picked them out, and they inspected them before they left. All the complaints they are making could have been discovered and addressed if they had thoroughly inspected it. We are not at fault in this situation-seeing as they purchased two trucks over 20 years old that were clearly used and worked before. When we reached out to him to see if we could come to a resolution after we received this complaint, he was very aggressive with one of our employees. He demanded her social/birthday for contacting him even though we just used the number he gave us for the complaint. Obviously, he is not interested in discussing this matter with us.Initial Complaint

**************** purchased a 2012 INTL from ** on 3/29/2023. He came to the lot himself and inspected the unit for purchase. He signed all of our sales documents in house that stated he was aware he was purchasing a truck AS IS/NO WARRANTY. The salesman had no knowledge of ******************** trouble until I asked him about this complaint. I had my salesman make contact with him to get more information, and **************** stated that the truck had issues after he began working the truck. He bought the truck from us and then proceeded to drive it to ****************. He even stated he worked multiple loads with the truck before he had any issues. We are unable to do anything once the truck has left off our premises and been put to work. There is now way to know what has happened to the unit since it has been in ******************** possession, but since he drove it all the way home and was able to work it for a period of time, I can only assume it was a good truck when it left here. We don't want any of our customers to have trouble with the trucks they purchase, and we are willing to talk to **************** about what happened to see if there is anything we can do in this situation. Our salesman has been in contact, and we will go from there. We are more than likely unable to assist though since as I stated before, the truck was in good working condition when it left the dealership.Initial Complaint

Purchased a vehicle from this company on December 3, 2022. It Was a 89 Peterbilt dump truck. Being a young small business owner, I had numerous complications with my first dump truck and was hoping to solve those issues with this one. Unfortunately, things are only got worse. I bought this truck from them hoping to be able to actually use it, turns out the reason the frame had been painted over was too hide all the imperfections. The truck Leaks lots of oil, has a crack in the turbo, tires were awful, the mileage on the truck is definitely not right either, which is stuff that sorta comes with an older truck but having the frame needing to be completely replaced is absolutely terrible business ethics. The frame is absolutely toast, there is cracks in the frame that Ive been terribly welded to hide them. The truck is not usable and will cost me around the price I paid for the truck (25k) to even get it fixed. This place is an absolute scam and will do all I can just to make a dollar. I dont know how the owner could live with himself,. Knowing that they cover up and hide imperfections on trucks, that can ultimately killed many people. Beware beware bewareBusiness response

On 12/03/2022, ******************** came to Don Baskin Truck Sales, LLC to look at some dump trucks for his business. I spent a couple of hours on the lot showing ******************* the different options and he decided on one he wanted to purchase. ******************* purchased this truck on site which means he inspected the truck. He heard it run, popped the hood, and went on a test drive. He had every opportunity to hire a mechanic to do a condition report on the truck. There are hundreds of options for mechanics in the ******* area, and we are always forthcoming with suggestions when a customer requests an offsite mechanic. ******************** seemed very pleased with his purchase, and he went in the office to pay for the truck. He signed multiple documents stating he had inspected the truck and understood he was purchasing it with no warranty. I have even spoken to ******************* after he posted a ****** review stating the same things in this complaint. I offered him a whole back half (rear ends included) for $2500. We usually sell these for $7500. We even offered to let him choose which one he wanted out of the ones we have. ******************* still decided that this was not good enough. He purchased a **** Peterbilt which can be expected to have some issues as it is over 30 years old.We offered $1,000 off the original listed price of the truck, and ******************** seemed satisfied. It wasnt until January that we heard from him, and he started accusing us of misrepresentation. We have tried to make things right with him, but he is uncooperative with what we are offering. The frame may have had some damage, but this all could have been seen when ******************** inspected the unit. He chose to purchase after seeing this truck, and he knew he was buying the truck AS IS/NO WARRANTY. If ******************** would like to call our dealership, we will still offer him the back half of his choice for $2500 to make sure he is satisfiedInitial Complaint

Good afternoon!
On August 12, 2022 we received $32,750.00 on behalf of *******************************. He purchased a 2006 Sterling Acterra VIN#W86402,
*********************** was his salesman, and he spoke to ************************ frequently throughout the process. We received this truck on our lot on August 1, 2022 and immediately posted it for sale. Everything we sale is AS IS/NO WARRANTY and we are EXTREMELY upfront about this. ************************ had every opportunity to come and inspect the unit for his self. We allow off site mechanics to come and inspect the units for the customers. We even allow DOT inspectors to come and inspect the units before the customer purchases. We want all of our customers to feel satisfied and comfortable with their purchase. ************************ was purchasing a truck that was over 15 years old. It can be assumed there would be at the very least minor issues with a unit of that age. We sell everything used, and we dont make any pretenses that these trucks are in brand new condition. The reason we allow inspectors to come on behalf of customers is to confirm that the customer is satisfied with the state of the unit and is happy with their purchase. I understand ************************ states that his truck had a blown head gasket. The truck was gone through in our shops before it left for transport, and this was never discovered. We sell 40+ trucks a week, and we know our mechanics are thorough and efficient. Mr. ******************** has never even heard of his complaints, or we would have addressed him directly. If he would like to reach out to us and speak to Mr. ********************* we will be happy to talk to him to see if we can resolve this issue. I can promise you we are not in business with ******* ***** We buy a lot of our inventory through ******* **** Auctioneers. RB Finance is a separate entity based out of ******, and is the finance company chosen by the customer. We prefer to use direct lenders, so we never offer broker finance companies to our customers on behalf of our financing customers. We actually have a finance department, and we would have been happy to assist ************************. Once again, if ************************ would like to discuss this matter with the owner, we will be available Monday-Friday 7-5 and Saturdays ****. Thank you.Initial Complaint

My mechanic and I went to Baskin Truck Sales to look at some dump trucks on Nov 10, 2022. The salesman that showed us around name was ******. We walked the lot and found one suitable truck, **** Kenworth T800. The truck needed a few minor repairs but ****** advised they would be taken care of. I got pre-approved before I went to the dealership to make sure the process would go faster. I contacted my finance rep while I was on the lot and let her know I had found the vehicle. She was put in contact with ****** to get the paperwork done. Baskin sent the sales receipt and ******* title to the finance company on Nov 11, 2022. So the finance team and sales rep for Baskin knows there's a pending sell on the vehicle. Final approval was sent to me late Friday, which was Veterans' Day so I couldn't sign until Monday Nov, 14th. On Monday, I sign all the necessary documents and setup insurance to close the deal. My rep advised through text that she had ****** send her a listing of the truck on that same day. ONCE AGAIN, HE KNOWS THERE'S A PENDING SALE. I authorize the wire on Tuesday and again through text **************** advises she is waiting on ****** to send wiring instructions to the bank. I decided to call ****** myself to ask about the wiring instructions, in which he advised he hadn't heard from the bank. I called the bank rep again and she states they left him a message but he hadn't got back with them and she would try to reach him again. On top of that, I was CC'd on an email the bank sent ****** asking him to complete a vehicle condition report. In the same conversation I had with him about the wire, he states that once the funds are received he would pull the truck into service to make the necessary repairs I requested. ONCE AGAIN, HE KNOWS THERE'S A PENDING SALE. I received text notification that the wire was sent out on Nov 16, 2022 at 5:14p. First thing the next morning, ****** tells me the truck has been sold! HORRIBLE BUSINESS!!!!!!!!Business response
