The man was contracted to fix our kitchen floor and lay new linoleum a neighbor was yelling next door and the worker said I can't work like this left the work unfinished and demanded my grandmother pay him 300 dollars I told him no and he said I'll call the cops and they'll make you pay me so my grandmother gave him 100 dollars and he left

    Business response

    03/25/2024

I was contacted by a third party (unknowingly) to fix a subfloor issue for a lady at ***********************************************************. When I got there at the scheduled time police were on scene responding to a domestic disturbance at the property. I wait until they left to knock on the door and asked if she would like to reschedule to which she replied no come on in. After accessing the damage I got to work, meanwhile her grandson (30 year old man with multiple mental health issues, according to his grandma- who had called the cops earlier for the same thing) was screaming and throwing stuff around. While in the midst of trying to live in the shed in their back yard. One her neighbors stopped by and was watching me work and also heard this going on. I minded my own business and kept working until death threats and police calls were given. It was at this point where they were going in and out the house in the area I was working threatening to hurt or worse each other (******** and her grandson (the man who made this report)) they stepped outside and started mentioning grabbing guns. I then talked to the grandma- I do not remember her name due to this issue, and explained how this isn't anywhere near a safe environment or place I need to be and asked for partial payment ($120) for the work completed, I had the subfloor and joists back in. She agreed and I gave her my business card to call me to come back out when this situation was handled. The grandson heard this and proceeded to yell in my face that (I can't handle a little drama and shouldn't be in business) and at that moment I knew I was making the correct decision. As I left I also phoned the police to report this as I felt the grandma (82 year old lady) was in a very bad situation. I still have not received a phone call from her (today is 03/25/24) to schedule a day to finish the job.
