We hired Daniel Hood roofing to fix some roofing issues that was causing leakage in February. This is now the end of 2024 and they still have not fixed my roof. They had us pay a 200.00 deposit and still no repair. They keep giving us the run around keep telling us that they sent someone out but they didn't have the correct color shingles so they will have to come back and they have yet to show up. Their secretary even had the audacity to tell us that they came and completed our roof but we have it in a text that they admitted the roof was never done. They also admitted that they had to fire their crew for bad work and they was supposed to be sending a new crew out. We've had several rainstorms since February and the leakage has gotten worse and they told us last week they was putting us back into post production and someone would be out to repair the roof. Noone ever came out and then we get a call from Daniel on 11/12/24 stating the repairs were completed and we owed 2159.00 we advised Daniel that the repairs were never completed and he stated he has pictures that they were. Daniel then sent someone to our home on 11/13/24 to then take pictures as his proof that they completed the work. When I spoke to Daniel on 11/14/24, he stated that his notes say the work was completed March 8th and when we asked for the before and after pictures then he changed his story and stated he didn't know when the work was completed and if we don't pay he will send our account to an attorney and tie us up in legal fees. Daniel stated that they replaced the boots ojbthe roof however the shingle work was never done. Daniel also stated they will not warranty the boots because we didnt pay for them in full when i have a email stating the boots were paid. Attached is the documentation proving Daniel Hood roofing did not complete the entire roof work per our original contract and they used deception practices to coerce their customers into paying for services that was never rendered.

    Hey Tim,

We are sorry to hear about your experience and very surprised to see this considering our last conversation.

The facts of this job are pretty simple: there was a contract to change out some pipe boots and about 100 square feet of shingles. This was completed as late as May, but could have been as early as March. Unfortunately, we did not have the photos to prove the exact date.

I called you for payment as the bill had been outstanding for over 6 months. As a small, local company, we unfortunately cannot afford to act as both bank and a roofer.  While discussing your bill on the phone you mentioned that you didn’t believe that the work was complete, to which you and I made an agreement.

I said I would send someone out to inspect the roof and the services performed. If it hadn’t been completed, we would issue a 100% refund for your deposit and release you from your contract.
We also agreed if it had been completed, we would ask that you pay the remaining balance due.

We inspected the roof on 11/13/2024 as you stated at your request. We took photos documenting that the work was in fact completed as per the contract terms to which you then said you still didn’t want to pay the bill.

At that point, in an effort to put some distance between our company and you, I offered a discount, hoping to come to an amicable settlement. In the end, we agreed to a settlement of less than half of the outstanding balance, despite the fact that the entire contract was satisfied.

We understand that disagreements happen, but at this stage, we’ve fulfilled our part of the contract and gone above and beyond to work with you in good faith.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Tim,

As previously stated in our original response, we inspected the roof on 11/13/2024 at your request. We took photos documenting that the work was in fact completed as per the contract terms. Your roof leak is not leaking in an area we repaired. We offered a warranty to fix the leaks if the balance was paid in full and you declined and said you wanted a discount instead.

The discount was offered and accepted, for less than half of the outstanding balance, despite the fact that the entire contract was satisfied.

We understand that disagreements happen, but at this stage, we’ve fulfilled our part of the contract and gone above and beyond to work with you in good faith.

    Thank you for your time.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The response from the company is untrue, the roof leakage is not coming from another area on our roof .The leak was in the kitchen area and that same area is still leaking and  that was the area that caused us to originally hire them to fix the repair.  As i stated in my previous response the owner of this company has threatened litigation against us for Libel stemming from this true complaint, I feel this is being done as retaliation or a bullying tactic to silence us. So at this point , I have nothing more to discuss concerning this matter.

    Sincerely,

I was trying to refinance my home because my roof needs replacing. I called Daniel Hood Roofing asking if they would come out and give me a quote. They came out 11/28/2022. I explained I was trying to refinance my house and was looking for a quote. Larry Bennett took the measurements and wrote me a quote. He asked me to sign it to show the quote was locked in thru February 2023, when my refinance was to be completed. I explained I was calling a couple of other companies for quotes as well. He said he understood. Well my refinancing fell through and I contacted the company to let them know. They turned around and said what I had signed was a contract and I owe them $4,000 for them coming out to give me a quote. I told the company that Larry said what I signed was to lock the price in. They said no and demanded payment immediately. I told them I'm going to have to flip my chapter 13 to a chapter 7 bk then. But that was a bait and switch. Very misleading! They were argumentative and not willing to back off. This isn't right. They should've told me prior to coming to my house that if I didn't pick them I'd have to pay a fee. No other company that I've called has charged me a fee for a quote. They should have clarified this prior to coming out and wasting my time.
