I recently purchased an adult female dog from a breeder in Tennessee named "George Brausen" for $1,000 dollars, with $250 dollars for transportation. After I picked up the dog, I realized that she had no flea prevention, and that she had fleas. I asked the breeder to send me her medical records, and he sent me her Rabies vaccination card which had been done shortly before I met him to pick her up. I then contacted the dog's vet to get the rest of her medical records, the vet emailed me her records; and I realized that she had never been vaccinated for anything until shortly before I picked her up. (And that was only rabies) Her medical records also indicated a heart problem during her spay procedure shortly before I picked her up which the breeder did not inform me about. My main concern is that this breeder is not vaccinating his breeding adult dogs or taking them to the vet for regular check up's; so, he may not be following the USDA standards for commercial breeders. (He has more than 5 breeding females, so he is a commercial breeder) He lives in Tennessee, so I know that the state laws in Tennessee for puppy mills are lax; but I would like to do whatever is necessary to make sure that he is inspected by the USDA to make sure that his breeding operation is following their standards. Please note that I have reported George to the USDA and Tennessee Attorney General as a possible puppy mill. I am also considering legal action against the breeder for failing to disclose the dog's heart condition.

We treat our adult dogs with K9 Advantix II flea and tick spot-on once a month. The next time they were due was on Feb 22nd, 2 days after you received Tinkerbell.

We give all of our adult dogs Nobivac Canine 1-DAPPv vaccines against canine distemper, adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza, and parvovirus on an annual basis. The vet comes out once a year to make sure that all of our adult dogs are vaccinated against rabies and they are checked out at that time as well.

When Tinkerbell went in to be spayed, this is the first time that the vet noted that she had a heart murmur. We continued with the spay at this time as her grandmother, Ginger, had the same issue but the murmur went away when she was under anesthesia. The heart murmur never negatively impacted Ginger in anyway and my daughter showed her in agility for ten years. With this information, the risk of there being an issue was minimal.

We rehome our adult dogs around 5-6 years at the latest so that they get a chance to have a happy family life and not have to live in a kennel their entire lives.
