Was told I can’t cancel membership unless I come in to sign, even though I work 7 days a week 45 minutes away from the nearest location. I didn’t go in to sign up. They just wanted the initial sign up money, they don’t care you weren’t there in person to sign papers to sign up.Review from shannon G

Planet Fitness #00177 Dickson TN 37055, Will allow charges you have not authorized thru your bank account for another persons Membership, refused to correct this billing issue and refund charged account. immediately jumped to cancelation and forged my signature on cancelation documents. All BBB reviews below are correct they have no one available to help besides the teenagers they hire because each location has their own owner but they have regional Managers??? For individual owned establishments. yes any way to avoid billing communications.Review from Brandon J

If they mess up the location of your gym in any way upon signing up for a membership, you have to jump through hoops to talk to someone at their corporate office. Their gym staff outside of that office cannot fix that as they are not allowed to with their system, and are trained to tell you to cancel your membership and start a new one, allowing the business to keep the money from the mistake. They require a credit card AND bank account information, which is also shady. Haven't even been to a gym yet so I'm just rating my experience so far.Review from Jamie B

They don't cancel membership when told. Still being charged over and over despite asking to cancel. One star is far too much to give. So easy to sign up but impossible to cancel!Review from John T

First and foremost I would like to state that I have been a member at this specific location in Columbia, Md for 5 years and never once had any issue until recently. October 2024, I was informed by a former Manager John (who is no longer a manager but is now a regular employee) that I had a past due balance from February 2024 and March of 2024, looking through my bank statements I realized for the month of February I was charged $10.00 on 2/20/24 and $25.00 on 2/28/24 /and March I was charged $49.00 on 3/1/24, $40.00 on 3/6/24 and 3/5/24 for $10.00 so I was under the impression that I didn’t owe any money to planet fitness. When I explained to John he let me know at the time that he would escalate the issue to someone else in management which he never did because fast forward a week later this issue was never taken care of. From 10/25/24- 11/12/24 I had been frequenting the gym and not one time did anyone stop me and say anything to me in reference to my account so I worked out regularly like normal. The issue escalated to the assistant manager Josh who didn’t have a clue what was going on and didn’t provide any real answers he basically told me that my bank statements that I showed him wasn’t sufficient enough so I had to go to the bank and get the statement from them which I did and same thing my bank statements on my phone was sufficient enough proof for him. Through the exchanges and the frustration of trying to explain what I initially thought Josh and John had claimed that I was being belligerent and aggressive so I was “banned” from the gym but due to a balance of $110 which I paid on November 3, 2024. All in all the staff at this gym should be trained properly on customer service and also on their policies in the gym and not to mention the Regional manager Pam has one of the nastiest dispositions about herself and it’s a shame Planet Fitness would hire Managers of that caliber. Try your best not to have interactions with the manager because they are rude.Planet Fitness Response

To start off, we thank you for being a member of Planet Fitness for the duration you have. Although we would love to keep every member in support of their fitness journey, our interaction together resulted in a rather unfortunate one that concluded with a ban. The billing issues on your account are due to insufficient funds. It has been documented that every time a team member has attempted to stop you and assist with resolving this balance, you have either ignored them and/or responded in an uncooperative, profane manner. After management attempted multiple times to assist you and resolve the problem at hand, it has been documented that you continued to verbally harass and threaten the team. Overall, these offenses are all against the club's policies. This is also the reason for your legal ban and barring of the Columbia, MD Planet Fitness. Although we were not able to be the Judgment Free Fitness Facility for you, we wish you nothing but the best in your future fitness journey!Review from Liz F

This location is horrible. Dirty and equipment stays broken. The machines stay broken for months at a time. The hand grips on the weight machihes are worn and black tape is used instead of replacing them. The gym constabtly stays untidy. Used paper and water bottles are always in varied locations in the weight area. The weight attachments are constantly thrown on the floor instead of on the stand. Clients leave them and no employees go around to tidy up. They only empty trash which is the extent of their cleaning. Never do they walk around and tidy up. The air has been broken since Friday . The ceiling fan near the smith machine is on its last leg and looks like it’s about to fall in the floor. It has been this way since March and management has been told several times but not fixed. Until it falls and kills someone; it looks like it won’t be fixed. None of the fans work on any of the cardio machines although they were suppose to new machines. They’ve never worked. In comparison to Forest Hill; this gym is just plain old, broken down and unkept always. The owner clearly does not care because no way machines and the lack of cleanliness should be a continued problem. I’ve submitted several reviews but yet nothing changes, Employees should be walking around at least once or twice an hour the entire gym picking up trash and not just emptying it. Picking up attachments and putting things back in the proper desk. Forest Hill in MD constantly cleans every hours. I guess it’s based on location and clientele because as large as the gym is; it’s the worse of all that I visited in MD, I’m a black card holder and would like my money to go to another location since mine does nothing to take care of its clients.Planet Fitness Response

I went to the location and cancelled my and my husband's membership September 5, 2023. Emilee was the assistant manager who processed the cancellation. On 10/17/2023, I noticed a charge hit my account for my monthly payment. They also hit my account on 9/17/2023. I called the location and spoke to Brenda, who repeatedly told me that I never came in and that my check-in history showed that I had only been to the gym once since 11/2022. This is not the case. I have kidney stones and when I am passing one, I will go and sit in the massage chairs or massage beds. She asked my husband's name and while she was looking up my husband's name, incorrectly, I found the email receipt when I cancelled my account. I provided her the member number. When the account came up it said **** and his last name. When she asked his name, not knowing what they used I had given her his complete, legal name. When she found the account, she repeatedly said "You told me the wrong name!" When I explained to her that I had provided the entire name, she said "I'M NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU!" She said she would "courtesy cancel" my account but explained that WOULD NOT include a refund. I asked to speak to a manager. Emilee answered. I explained the same to her and told her she was at fault for all of this. She "issued" the refund, which she said she would hear back from the processing company in 3-4 business days, and then, she would process the refund which would take 7-14 business days. I was told by the bank, that when an account is canceled, that revokes the company's permission to draft your account. And, because it was done at the error of the company, they MUST refund that quickly as it was an UA charge. I spoke with Ian, the store manager, and it is clear why his employees behave this way. Ian was just as rude over talking me but chastising me when I did it to him. I have filed a fraudulent charge complaint with the bank. Very rude and hostile towards me, a black card member, when I would use solely use bathroom facilities. I do not disturb anyone nor am I drawing attention to myself in any way or form, but due to the lack of maturity of the "teenagers" , I am assuming based on their attitudes, they would stop and harass me and be very discriminatory towards me.
