I had signed up for a gym membership a little over a year ago. In December 2024, my health care provider gave me a note to release me from my contract due to the fact that anytime I went, I would have a fibromyalgia flair up that would take me out of work for 2 to 3 days. After a week of calling, texting, emailing, and going in person- I was finally able to talk to someone to process the cancellation (12/26/24). I was told that the cancellation would be finalized and I would receive an email about it. In January 2025, I noticed I was still being charged a membership fee. I have tried calling, texting, and emailing to no avail. I was able to reach someone at the parent company, but they keep referring me back to the Area Manager- who does not return calls, answer the phone, reply to texts, or reply to emails. The parent company did state that the location has never submitted the cancellation of the contract. It seems like they are operating in an unethical manner, not allowing cancellation of a contract even if their terms for cancellation are met.

When I signed up for the gym membership I made it CLEAR multiple times that I didn't want to be locked into a contract, that I wanted the option to cancel the membership if I wanted. The Manager stated, multiple times, that I would be able to cancel if I needed to. This was the only reason I accepted this membership. I work a job that doesn't always get renewed, and I just lost $1200/month income, so I requested to cancel the membership. Since then, the manager has changed and I was told that this agreement wasn't on the contract so they would not cancel the membership. This is the opposite of what I was told.

I have jumped through numerous hoops to cancel a membership that was well past the contractual obligations. After multiple phone calls, emails, and texts they still continue to steal money from my account. I had to pay a $36 bank fee to get it to stop.

on October 22, 2024 i went to a personal training appointment with ****** ****** at the Anytime Fitness location that was my home gym location at ******************************************* and was informed that the location was being closed because their lease had expired and the landlords were trying to double the rent. I was told that I could cancel or move my membership to the location in ***********. I visited the *********** location on the 24th of October and decided it was not convenient to my home and work and would cancel my membership.

On Saturday the 26th i found out that the doors to the *********** location was already closed. I texted both ****** ****** and ******** ********** on Monday the 28th to advise them that i would not be continuing with either Anytime Fitness or my Personal Training and had joined another gym.

On the 31st of October I was charged $30.09 for my bi-weekly membership fee. I texted ******** ********** to ask about the charge and she never responded to me. I was also charged again on 11/14 and 11/28 for a total of $90.27 I have tried to call the gym and was told by someone named ***** that they finally stopped the charges going to my credit card but he could not authorize a refund but he would contact his manager **** and she would call me.

I have also called ABC Fitness, the billing partner and *********** brands customer service number and no one is returning my calls about issuing a refund. I feel like i am getting he run around and no one is taking this seriously.

On 4/24/24 or 4/25/24 I sat down with **** who was the active manager at that time to cancel my membership. I explained that because I no longer had the ability to utilize my membership that I needed to just cancel it. Mind you in the timeframe of about a year I was only able to make it in only one time, twice at best. So, **** asked for my drivers license, took some information and said it was done. After that, I then stated getting phone calls about a member charge that was due and even after calling their customer service team it didnt get resolved. At the time I cancelled /ended my membership I had no charges due as they had just charged me again just a day or two prior.

This business is threatening on sending me to collections for an unpaid gym membership I never signed up for. They sent me a copy of the agreement contract I supposedly signed, but that is not my signature and the information on that contract is incorrect The "initials" on that contract don't even match all the way through. That information does not belong to me. I've been calling for 2 months now and leaving voicemails in which no one responds to. They are trying to scam me and even tried to forge my signature and initials.

We decided it to renew our membership with Anytime Fitness. When we canceled our membership we were both told and received an email confirmation that our membership canceled on November 1, 2024. So they tried to continue to withdraw money from account after our membership expired. Now I confronted them about it it with them giving me a number to call when I called it I was not able to talk to anybody about it. So I went to my bank and put a stop to them stealing more money from our account. Now they are harassing us on a daily basis with both phone calls and text messages. If you check on ****** reviews you can see that we are not the first ****** they have done this to. I want them to stop harassing us. We do not owe them anything. Our membership has not renewed.

Business tried to claim that I was past due on payments. My charges are automatically taken from my credit card and I have statements all the way back to when I first signed the contract. I have never missed a payment. I attempted to call the business as well as text the owner. I got nothing back. Then I was randomly charged $43 for no reason. I posted the issue on social media, to warn others, and many people commented having the same issue. This business is scamming people out of money.

The following is the e-mail I sent to the corporate customer care representative Attention: ***,As per our conversation this morning, 10/3/2024, I am sending the documentation supporting my cancellation of my Anytime Fitness account, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the original contract. However, upon more detailed investigation of my ********** personal checking account and review of the personal training agreement, signed 08/25/2022 with Anytime Fitness salesperson and personal trainer, ***** ******, I am requesting reimbursement in the amount of $5170 for 47 invoices paid from the period of 01/12/2023 10/03/2024 (minus the Magnolia Physical ***************** Catfish payment of the same amount, plus the 10/03/2024 invoice that has not posted to the account) for the ******, Coach Basic 24 Membership Plan, beginning on August 17, 2024, and ending on August 16, 2024 for the Personal Training not fulfilled by the personal training agreement signed by ***** ******. My reason for cancelling the membership is primarily because after the Personal Trainers unfortunate demise/death, January 1, 2023, I was never reassigned a Personal Trainer. After repeatedly notifying management that I was not being trained, I resigned myself to continuing my own workout routine until the end of the term of the agreement and cancel it. Secondly, the facility was poorly kept. The trash cans were not emptied daily, it was not swept or dusted regularly, sanitary wipes were not replenished regularly or broken, and the toilets were often out of order. Reply:Dear ******,Re: ANYTIME FITNESS NEW ORLEANS 6 Account #: *********** This is something that *** cannot assist you with, as we do not handle refund for the personal training for your club. ************* Offline Processor ABC ********************** ***************I have placed a stop payment on the account. The funds withdrawn by *** Fitness *************, ACH withdrawal. Please advise.
