On ***************** Roofing and Repair had door-to-door solicitors in my neighborhood. Despite many of us having clear "No Soliciting" signs on our doors, these solicitors trespassed and knocked. Further, when the sign was pointed out, they became rude and belligerent.

    Business response

    04/07/2022

I just want to first state that I apologize and take accountability for my employees, they were purely just trying to do their jobs as instructed. ******************** reaction and misplaced anger is completely unwarranted. Not only has **************** given my small roofing company 1-star reviews, now filing a complaint with the BBB, he is responsible for this situation escalating. After doing multiple roof replacements in Mr. ******* neighborhood, it is routine for our employees to inform the surrounding neighbors of the likely weather damage on their roofs. Our employee kindly knocked on the homes front door, **************** answered and immediately and aggressively started insulting our employee and acting irrational. Our employees do abide by the "if a no soliciting sign is present, then no door-knocking" policy, and always have respect and consideration for every resident's property and home. ******************** no-soliciting sign was down below the doorbell, and our employee clearly did not see. Our employee quickly apologized, tried to explain to him that he just wanted to inform **************** of possible weather damage and is not trying to cause problems. **************** continued to be argumentative, asking my employee are you stupid? Do you need a dictionary? Get the (curse-word) out of my neighborhood. Shocked by ******************** behavior he tried to deescalate the situation, left ******************** property, and moved on to the next neighbor. **************** continued to yell and curse so both of my employees headed back to their work vehicle when they notice ****************, and I assume his wife, coming outside holding a baseball bat in hand.
My employee never refused to leave Mr. ******* property, in fact, my employee immediately did leave when **************** became irrational.  My employee was not trying to be pushy or sell **************** anything, only wanted to inform him of storm damage and simply do his job. HD has been a local mom-and-pop, Austin **** roofing company for more than 25 years, and we have never had anything like this happen. To have someone deliberately try to damage the business name and integrity is unwarranted when it comes to someone merely knocking on a homes front door. **************** can be assured HD will never step foot on his property again, yet the illegitimate 1-star reviews on my company pages will remain unjust.
If there is anything that **************** would like to share to further explain his reaction, that I may be unaware of; or if there's anything that can be done on our end to help appease him, I would like to come to a resolution and meet on common ground. Reviews and complaints on business platforms can harm and hinder a small business deeply.
