Purchased home owners insurance. My home is a modest small dwelling. Two years ago we added a 24 x 30 foot metal building and asked it be included in the insurance. The building cost more than the original purchase of my home. We have made many upgrades to our home. The home has a metal roof. Recently valued at $61,000 for tax purposes. A hail storm wrecked havoc April 22 (pictures attached). I now find out that I have a cosmetic exclusion to my policy. What’s that? Never heard of such a thing. Why would I, I’m not an insurance agent. We received $1,683 for damages. Everything is beat to heck. I find out that family and friends are getting large sums for less and comparable damages. One is an old mobile home with a metal roof over the existing mobile home. Mobile homes have metal outsides, right? The owner received $7,000 in damages for a window, lawn furniture, cheap solar outside lights, plants etc… A relative with a home with a metal roof like mine received tens of $1,000s of dollars for similar damages as mine, including little odds and ends outside. Thanks for having my back Texas Farm Bureau Insurance! I wouldn’t touch TFBI with a ten foot pole. I don’t think anyone has more or less knowledge about insurance than I do. They just had an agent that cared about their customer and didn’t act like the money came out of their pocket. I received a check for light hail damage to my vehicle that was about the same amount a couple of weeks prior. Come on people! This is my home and a 2 year old building. With TFBI you even pay an annual fee to get ripped off like that!

"After this complaint was filed, the customer did come into the office and get an explanation. She did in fact apologize to the agent and wanted to retract the complaint. Ms. ****, on her own accord signed a document and was explained in great detail at the time she purchased her homeowner's insurance that the document she was signing meant that the metal would ONLY be replaced if it was leaking or had actual holes and not replaced just for cosmetic reasons, which in return would give a premium discount and ultimately that is why she chose to go that route and sign the cosmetic exclusion form. In addition, this is not an agent issue, it was with our adjuster in the claims department. As an agent, they keep us completely separate from files claim and checks issued. When she left the office after the agent explained in detail, she was satisfied with the explanation. So, I believe this complaint is not justified. Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Thank you,
