Sometime in October of 2022 I had a seizure at work. I was unable to deny medical care as I was mostly unconscious and so I was transported to a hospital by Acadian. I have seizures regularly so Im used to it and do not need any medical care. Regardless, I was charged $1300. I did not make a lot of money and could not afford this charge, I did not submit to being transported in the first place. On May 7th, 2024 I had another seizure and again was transported against my will to a hospital by Acadian, this time they tried to charge me $3500. I obviously did not pay these charges as I did not consent to it in any manner. I have not signed any contract to consent to services. My credit score is now ruined because of Acadian taking advantage of injured people.

First of note... This business was acquired by Acadiana in January. In late November last year I suffered a fall down a flight of stairs at my new home in the dark. I picked myself up and drove myself to my local hospital emergency room, a hospital where I am on the medical staff. After some ct scans the ** doc determined I had broken most of my orbital floor (eye socket bones) on the left. He transferred me to a level 1 trauma center (***********) in *********** for a higher level of care. I offered to drive myself but even though I'd received no medicines, he adamantly refused and demanded I allow myself to be transported by ambulance. I was subsequently billed some $3500 which my insurance refused to pay (out of network) for this "service" though I was being transported in an emergency to a higher level of care from a hospital that was in network after offering to drive myself. Rather than go through collections I simply paid it.I have already addressed this reprehensible behavior with the emergency room doctor who referred me when I ran into him in the doctors lounge at the hospital, and he apologized for them. I suspect this is the biggest club I have with respect to their reputation in the medical community and more consequential than a BBB review.
